"We stayed an extra two days due to a delay in travel plans. This time we moved into a smaller villa that was just as great as our first. The hot tin was wonderful and the food was great. We are looking forward to staying here again in the near future!"
"La Villa Aphro was our home away from home. The tucked away boutique resort felt like our own personal Air B and B. Upon arrival we were welcomed with a delightful welcome native drink that I wanted to drink the entire trip. My. Husband arrived with an upset stomach from our united airlines flight from IAD. Staff immediately jump to action showed to our room and made him two drinks. A special ginger drink the bartender put together and seltzer. My husband slept and was felling back to his self by dinner.
We booked the Luxury Chalet which had breath taking view of the ocean. Just as pictured.
The food was amazing we didn’t do the full board but everything was very affordable. Breakfast was filled with fresh pastries every morning and an assortment of local fruits. As well as some other traditional Ghanaian, as well some more American known eggs, sausages and pancakes.
Each meal could felt like a small feast for my husband and we could barely finish.
This trip and celebration for my 40th birthday and omg I don’t know what my husband told them but when we returned from are nightmare dinner at the Polo club restaurant and lounge they totally made up for it. From rose petals on the bed spelling how Happy Birthday with my name and balloon decorations with a beautiful cake. I felt like Royalty my entire stay. I slept so peacefully listening to the waves crashing always.
If you’re looking for a peaceful quiet getaway I highly suggest La Villa Aphro Ghana. I could go on and on. "
"Apparently, every night house music is played.... It was so loud that I wore ear plugs in my room. It says that there is a pool, but the pool was unswimmable.... they were slick with green algae. The beach is strewn with garbage (which I understand is something they cannot help).... I don't mean to be a bummer here, but buyer beware.
The price point is great.... I came to Winneba to visit friends.... And the free breakfast is nice.... And the staff are very, very friendly. But, it is not the kind of resort where you will leisurely hang out by the pool. If you like loud house music, then this is the place. "
"Just spent a week with my family and loved it.
The good points: the staff are fantastic, so helpful and friendly even when we turned up at 2am after our flight was delayed. The rooms are big and clean (and didn't see a single mosquito). Air con worked well. Netflix on the tv. Pool was clean. The best bit was being right on the beach. The boys loved playing football and splashing around. It's out of the city centre so very quiet and peaceful and it was great to get away from the insane traffic. It's about 8 miles/30min drive from West Hills Mall which has a big supermarket, pharmacy and restaurants which was good when travelling with children.
Be aware: although it isn't far out of the city distance wise, because the traffic/roads are so bad it does take a long time to get to. If you were only in accra for a couple of days you might want somewhere a bit more central.
Needs improvement: their back up generator wasn't working when we were there so every time there was a power cut (almost daily) there was no A/C. It wasn't a deal breaker but I've never stayed in a hotel in accra that didn't have a working back up generator.
Would we stay there again: yes
