The Grains bar hotel was selected over others primarily for its location which had several teenage memories. We were visiting family in Smallbridge, Rochdale ... 4miles away, so very convenient. Excellent greeting and first impressions. Ample seating areas, small bar area next to reception, large brekki, dining room but lacked atmosphere. Other rooms (not viewed incl Wedding venue) available. Good meals and menu. Rag pudding...well! Yes, the parking is a tad awkward, ie circa 20 spaces immediately outside the hotel. On busy nights manouvering into available bays is awkward due to angular layout especially if you are in a large/long vehicle ... but is possible pe. There is an overspill car park which is circa 25m x 25 squar immediately below the main car park so up steps to the hotel. Clean & tidy room, however well used and could do with refreshment. Staff very attentive. Would go again. Always room for improvement nence score.

bedroom tv was out of date so none of the apps worked. the tvs weren't tuned properly so most channels were missing. the internet seemed to be faulty so was connected via a different apartment. the connection was flaky, dropped out constantly. the kitchen amenities were basic, no cooking utensils. no soft lighting in living area only bright harsh kitchen lighting...had to use a lamp from bedroom, though no side table to put it on. windows are floor to ceiling and only roller blinds so you're either in blackout or a goldfish bowl . the window sills are metal, the building has no overhang, and windows are staggered so when it rained raindrops sounded like ball bearings hitting a steel tray, the sound seemed to amplify through the window frame by the bed, kept us awake half the night. batteries both tv remotes were dead, manager brought 2 other remotes, the batteries lasted five minutes and also died, had to buy our own. the listing for the flat suggested there was parking available, failed to mention the only parking was via another private company at £17 a night. flat itself is fine just needs a few basics fixing.

Good central location, nice apartment parking location good buy pretty expensive even with discount. Restaurant service could be improved, cold coffee, open buffet and self service for some items might be idea to allow guests to choose and help themselves in this respect

Good variety at breakfast, spacious and clean rooms, and a convenient location. The lift can be a bit slow, so you might wait longer if staying on a higher floor.
