First, the island and surrounding waters are absolutely beautiful. Second, like most all Filipinos, the staff was excellent and happy. Third, the rooms were amazing. Very beautiful and very well laid out.

We were not aware that you had to get to boat ramp by 4pm, hotel policy is checkin at 3 or later, we got to boat location and was told TOO LATE, ask for a refund for first night was DENIED, impossible to talk or find management...DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY IT IS MISLEADING about boat not traveling after 5pm even though policy states check in 3pm or later

It’s a small piece of paradise! Really liked the infinity pool facing the sea, with a tree in the middle. It’s really peaceful. Staff is great also. A few mishaps with the transportation back and forth. Just set the rate and apply it consistently.

Romantic Sumilon Long Weekender Trip
Had a weekend romantic get away in Bluewater Sumilon. Got a premiere room with beds facing the sea. Beautiful and spacious room with a swing and table outside. Lots of activites to do like trekking, kayak and biking. Had fun doing the bike trail. Food is delicious and worth the spend. I especially love the sand bar and infinity pool. Will definitely book and stay longer on the next visit.

The hotel is quite a ways from the airport, approximately 3.5 hours. We opted to hire a driver for the day to take us to the hotel because we wanted to stop at many places along the way. The price was the same as what the hotel charges to take you there in the shuttle so the extra flexibility was nice. The hotel is a quaint group of bungalows in a extremely wonderful setting. There are massive coral mounds just outside the shallow waters of the hotel. The hotel lives up to its name with beautiful blue water everywhere around. The food was good. There were many things to do on the island. I would recommend this place to anyone although by Philippine standards it is somewhat expensive. From the hotel we did the swimming with sharks and two waterfall excursions. Lunch at the hotel is not free so we took the ferry across to the mainland every day and ate at the Choobi Choobi bar, which has a great atmosphere and a wonderful ocean view. I would recommend this hotel in the area to anybody, however you don’t wanna stay too many nights because you will eventually run out of things to do in the area. I stayed five nights and was very happy with that

This is a breathtaking resort on a breathtaking island with breathtaking views. I realize I sound like a snake oil salesman, however I am not exaggerating. If it's within budget, you will not regret a single night - but preferably at least 2-3 - spent on this island. By far the most mesmerizing island in all of the Visayas. Bluewater Resort owns the island and their service and attention to guests is fantastic. Their rooms are spacious and modern as are their bathrooms. The view from the room is unforgettable. The resort offers a lot of activities from snorkeling in 3 different areas, diving, trekking with 4 different treks with varying difficulties, free bike rentals for a bike trek track, fishing, kayaking, infiniti pool, and much more. Their breakfast and dinner buffets were great and though most would find their nightly price steep, if you consider all of which is included and the locale of where you are staying, it really isn't that much. The experience and luxury supercedes any concerns about the worthiness of the cost. Not to mention, it's a SUPER CONVENIENT place for whale shark watching. They arranged literally everything. Thanks guys!!!

Beautiful place but a bit overpriced for the Philippines. The room was clean but we did have a cockroach and huge spider in the room. The staff was great, and responded immediately to take care of the spider and sprayed the room for us. The food is good, the property is beautiful. They do a great job at making sure the day trippers stay out of the infinity pool and areas they are not supposed to be. There are security standing buy all day to keep the people who are not staying at the resort out of the areas that are for in house guests only. It is a bit frustrating that the day trippers are at the sandbar ALL day long (from 7am to 5pm,) but we knew that before we booked. We needed to change our dates on a nonrefundable booking and the resort was gracious enough to allow us a change with no fee. I would recommend this hotel, and stay here again, just be aware the sandbar is almost always occupied. BUT, the infinity pool is fabulous and has an amazing view. THANK YOU BLUEWATER SUMILON for a great trip. Your staff is professional, friendly, and always wanting to help for anything you need.

Great place for a family and younger people. Beach is nice when high tide, staff really tries hard to make you happy. Plenty of things to do for kids. This place is not good if you have a heart or lung condition, you have to climb many steps to get everywhere and no handicapped accessibility. Disappointed on the massage, did not offer tea or water afterwards. I think its overrated and very expensive for what you pay for, breakfast and dinner have few selections

Worth the trip to Oslob/Bluewater Sumilon
We had an amazing time at Bluewater Sumilon! We loved the boutique resort atmosphere with only 31 guestrooms, the tranquility on the island, the turquoise blue water surrounding the island. We thoroughly enjoyed snorkelling at their Marine Sanctuary, the mountain bike riding and just enjoying the beautiful scenery from their infinity pool. The service was very good and staff were very attentive to our needs. The only negative feedback is the day tours... people come to the island and use facilities which are meant to be just for in-house guests. It's a bit annoying especially when the price difference between in-house guests and day tours is massive. Overall, a little bit expensive but worth it and we recommend it! We will be back! Oh and the whaleshark watching is so close!! But we recommend you take a special boat trip early in the morning as it was already packed when we took the 9am boat and had to wait hours!

Hi Stephanie, Thank you for the wonderful feedback. We are pleased to know that you found value in your Bluewater Sumilon experience. The resort has recently opened a new pool and restaurant which caters for Day Tour guests making the infinity pool and Pavilion restaurant exclusive for inhouse guests. These are just some more ways for us to provide excellent service and value for all our guests. We believe this 24 hectare island is a big enough playground for all guests to enjoy.

Beautiful island, overpriced resort
Such an amazing beautiful island, a refreshing getaway from the city life. The resort is the entire island so expect to be nurtured by nature. Staff is amazing, from the checkin to the dining to the bar - Cebuano hospitality at its best. I must say however, that the resort is highly overpriced. It's not intended for the locals hence mostly foreigners stay as in house guests and locals will avail of the day use. We booked for their Premium Deluxe Room which says up to 4 pax can stay. On the day we arrived, I brought along another friend but was told they would charge PHP 4,500 for extra person. I wish booking sites would specify these details. Nothing much to do at the resort though but that's exactly the point of being away from the usual grind. Will do day tour next time as the island is usually the next destination after you swim with the whalesharks in Oslob. Amazing staff - shoutout to the bartenders who gave us free mojito drinks on the house.

Relaxing & Adventureful Island Resort
It was a series of unfortunate events for us at the start... service-wise, it was truly disappointing! But as I am a travel adviser & reviewer, I know I should not give up easily (though I wanted to!). I therefore made sure to talk to the resort manager so he is aware of what was happening in the island resort. Our family vacation-con-birthday-weekend-getaway was as it should be after that...BLISSFULLY RELAXING & MOST ENJOYABLY HITCH-FREE! Kudos to Mr. EJ Barretto, resident overall resort manager, you did a fine great job in making your guests feel secure, cared for & COMFORTABLE! I MUST also give special mention to the DINING STAFF... THEY WERE SUPERB!!! A truly lovely Birthday treat for me! :) I highly recommend this island resort especially with their ongoing project of separating areas & activities of their staying guests from their day tour guests. Not that it mattered to me & my family...we practically had the island to ourselves and the day tourists were pleasant people with relaxation in mind like us! More power to Management of Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort!

Perfect except for the pool
Lots of choices in the fullboard meals, clean bathrooms in the glamping area, nice relaxing beach & very helpful staff. Only concern is the infinity pool, also overhead other guests asking the lifeguard how often it is cleaned. I swam underwater and visibility is almost zero. Whether the volume of guests is high or low that time, pool should be cleaned daily at least.

Great rooms, friendly staff, OK food.
Great rooms with nice interior design, private, cozy, and comfortable. The white sand bar is nice, especially once the day tourists have left. The blue of the waters really stand out when there is sun. The standard of food however, is very mediocre, and not up to standards given the prices paid. The free first round of in-room minibar is a nice touch since there are no other options on the island. Staff are friendly and helpful, but could be better polished with their service. They do try their best though, so that's very appreciated. Diving is OK. Pretty fishes and coral but didn't see much macro.

Disappointing Stay With Sumilon Bluewater Resort!!
The Sumilon Island is beautiful and it's great for snorkelling, which my family enjoyed the experience very much. However, the hotel room (Bluewater) was disappointing. The room, food and drinks were overpriced, lack of quality service in comparison to the same star rating hotels we stayed in Cebu. As part of our accommodation we were provided with breakfast and dinner. One night we got served with fish but it was off and couldn't eat it and the rest of the food in the menu were not much better. We complained about the quality of food but no feedback was received. Breakfast time some, foods were left uncovered and flies were buzzing around them. The room was roomy, however, the toilet constantly get blocked, which we felt bad for the guy who has to come around to unblocked it, as I don't think he gets paid very well to do such a job. The bathroom exhaust fan doesn't work, bathroom floor was dusty, molds growing in the bathroom wall and basin, shower only dribbles water, again we complained but no one came around to fix it during our five day stay. The staff were friendly and courteous, however, they are unable to assist, deal with customers need, requirement and complaint as I feel, no resources being returned into the facility to ensure quality service is being provided to customers. From this experience, I certainly would not return to Sumilon Bluewater Resort nor stay with other Bluewater Resorts elsewhere and def. would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Magnificent view and Relaxing Experience
Overall, this is a beautiful resort and definitely the best thing to wake up to. The view is just amazing and the service is great. The mango shakes here are great too. We stayed in a deluxe room and it is very big. The room is beautiful and I love the big bathroom and shower. Great infinity pool and great food. We really enjoyed our stay. The only complaints I have is the sand bar beach gets too crowded from the people who are here for only the day. I wish there was a part of the beach that can be exclusive to guests only. Also, if you head over to the other side of the island, there's another beach area but the ocean current is very strong so have to be careful. The workers on this part of the island gives uncomfortable stares to my girlfriend though. All the workers everywhere else on the island don't really stare. We saw the glamping site and honestly, the tent is like a regular big tent. Usually, glamping is a fancier tent so we are glad we did the deluxe room.

Worth every penny. Stunning!
We had the most wonderful stay. We got the 9.30am boat over to the island, were able to leave our bags at reception and went to enjoy the pool - this was really special. The pool has three smaller pools around the base and the views are just stunning. The colours of the sea are phenomenal. After spending some time here, we then went down to the lagoon on the beach where free activities were offered - there was paddle boarding, pedlaos, kayaking and canoes. This was a real bonus. We were able to check in early, about 1pm and we had the executive rooms - the view was just breathtaking. The rooms were large with gorgeous bathrooms. We had a large balcony. The dive shop provided free snorkels and we spent the afternoon in the marine sanctuary where we swam with turtles. This was really special as after doing it in tourist filled Apo Island, this was just us and a turtle. The coral and marine life here is stunning. For dinner, we had the buffet. Breakfast buffet was lovely with ample choice. The only negative was that a lot of the dishes ran out. We got the last boat back and were able to use all the facilities free of charge after checking out. The badminton court is a nice touch as is the hiking trail - wear trainers also trainers for arrival and departure. The sandbar is beautiful but be warned it does get crowded

Beautiful resort with a feeling of serenity
I stayed at Sumilon Bluewater Resort for 6 days in May. The weather was great, staff were friendly and the overall experience was tremendous. The resort is very relaxing and peaceful. Upon our arrival we were given deluxe room number 1, which is closest to the pier and dining area. We were a bit reluctant to stay in that room at first because of all the activity near by. However, we were astounded just how beautiful our view was and still with all the people walking past our room, we weren't disturbed once. The food on the island tastes good but is too expensive. The staff accommodates to all your needs. I would recommend staying on this island but don't book your activities or eat at the resort unless you have a fat wallet.

Wonderful glamping experience esp. at night when its really quiet and you can use the many hammocks provided and sway yourself to sleep under the stars or have some beer and snacks from the complimentary mini bar provided. Service is good staff are very courteous though the food serving may be slow at times. Only drawback is that we sharing the public toilet thus it may not be as clean and convenient as having your own exclusive toilet. Very beautiful sea with 3 distinct shades of blue and one night may not be sufficient to fully enjoy this resort and its facilities.

Staff that went beyond the call/Great place
Somewhat last minute planning and reservation at Sumilon, without a full understanding of the location and unique "resort" set-up, but once arrived, we loved the place. We booked a "glamping" stay for a few days, and the experience was certainly unique staying in the "lux" tent, but more importantly the rest of the resort was beautiful. The tent was large and very clean, and after a day of outdoor activities, very comfortable to come home, and quickly fall asleep without concern for mosquitoes/bugs. The island itself is only for Sumilon guests and day visitors, and easy to explore with some of the best snorkling we found in the Philippines right off the beach of the island, and a few other activities to explore on the island, or across the water on Cebu mainland. I travel frequently for work/pleasure and seldom submit reviews, but special thanks to Sumilon management and in particular to Apple and Carmela/Tara for help with a logistics issue. I would also recommend the Bluewater hotel in Cebu City / Mactan

Food and activities could be better!
We drove to Oslob from Cebu and from there you take a 15 to 20 min boat ride to Sumilon Island. The staff of the resort are very accomodating and the service was excellent. We got the premier deluxe which are newly built and very comfortable, the bathroom is huge. Only some of the deluxe rooms are renovated some are still old so you have to make sure you get the renovated rooms. Although the facilities and service were great I wasnt impressed by the island itself. The marine sanctuary where you snorkel is not great... and it is right by the dock where boats come in and out. The water isnt that clean since there is so much activity in the area. Other beaches around the island are too wavy to really swim in althought the colors of the water are incredibly beautiful. They have a nice infinity pool. You have no choice but to eat at their pavilion and for me that was its biggest downfall - the food. Food is really expensive and not good at all. Was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The advantage of this resort is that it is the most luxurious one you will find in the area and the room rates reflect that fact.

Great place for quiet, not great for anything else
The location is great to avoid the crowds. Hard for supplies such as food for a full menu. When the first 2 things I wanted to order were not available, I started by sending them to the kitchen to let me know what was not available. I had a long commute to get to the island, so I was a little sick. May have something to do with my irritation. I would avoid going there after a storm because all the trails are blocked by fallen trees. Being on an island makes everything more expensive, be warned about damaging the room key that has a wooden key tag. Remove it when you get there or you could pay 1500 for a replacement. but I guess all places these days are in it for the money anyways. the food costs more than the actual room did. if you are going to Oslob for the whale sharks and staying here, pay when you get to the hotel it will save you money.

Pleasurable stay!
The people who greeted us were very courteous and helpful and made our stay very pleasurable. We stayed in the villa and had our own jacuzzi with the view of the ocean and sky. The room was clean and perfect. The bathroom was very spacious and had a ceiling where you can see the sky while bathing. We were greeted by some fresh fruits and a nice view of the ocean. The cable had some really good channels and was in hd. The food in their restaurant was alright but the place gave a really romantic feeling especially at night. The sandbar was the highlight of the place but there were too many people since it was a public beach and a sunday. It would be best to go there on a weekday to have more privacy in the beach. All in all we had a great stay at the resort thanks to the awesome staff and nice facilities that they had. I will definitely go back and stay longer.
