The wooden eight-sided, top-hunter with scaffolding stands on a square substructure with sawing shed and has a slipway for pulling the tree trunks out of the water. The position is at a height of 5.60 m. The owner has been the municipality of Deventer since 1967. The mill is operated by the Bolwerksmolen Foundation. Molenaar has been Ber Fort since 2002. At the beginning of the 21st century the mill appeared to have subsided in such a way that a radical one-and-a-half-year restoration was necessary. The mill was completely disassembled, piles were placed in the ground and a new foundation was placed. Then the mill could be rebuilt. The hull and the hood also got a makeover. The former Dutch Reformed Church (now the Protestant Church, PKN) from the 14th century stands on a place already mentioned in a charter from 893 (known by a copy of Caesarius van Milendonk from 1222) under the goods of Prüm in the Eifel . The Prüm property was sold in 1609 by the States of Gelderland to Count Ernst Casimir of Nassau-Dietz. There was a copper mill on the border with Klarenbeek.
