Another great place to see elephants in Sri Lanka
The safari through Udawalawa National Park gets you close to lots of animals. Most exciting? All the elephants!

Overall a good place for a small safari type trip. Lots of elephants roam free and from what we were told it is a lot less crowded and touristy than Yala. The ticketing and entrance system is massively chaotic however with drivers leaving jeeps unattended and there’s a sense of no one knowing what is happening. Inside the park we were alone for fair bit of the time, except in certain ‘hotspots’ where a group of vehicles gathered to see elephants, crocodiles or water buffalo. Lots of animals to see.
