Tokunoshima Vacation Packages
It's recommended not to limit yourself to the attractions of Tokunoshima because the whole region has been endowed with a treasure-trove of wonderful sights and attractions. Yoro and Okino Erabu are two more places worth seeing while you're in Kagoshima.
Discover the Kagoshima (prefecture) cuisine by taking your tastebuds for a tour of the region's restaurants and cafés. No vacation in this region would be complete without tasting tonkotsu (stewed pork belly and ribs) or satsumaage (deep fried fish paste).
Making the effort to memorize a little of the local tongue often separates the enlightened travelers from the mere tourists. "Isshoni odorimasenka?" is Japanese for "Would you like to dance with me?" A second practical example is "Benjo wa doko desu ka?" (Where's the toilet?).
Much of Tokunoshima celebrates Birthday of Emperor Akihito on the 23rd of December, so be prepared for changes to visitor attraction opening hours and transport schedules.
When it's time to leave this special part of the world, say a fond Sayōnara (farewell) to the characters you have met and the special places you have seen.
