Family & Friends Get Away

Indian Lake Lodge is a beautiful cabin with amazing views of Nantahala Lake and the mountains. My wife and I took our two teenage sons and 4 of their friends. All of the boys had a great time playing pool and enjoying Nantahala Lake and watching movies downstairs on the 88" TV. The Wi-Fi worked surprisingly well, so we were able to watch various movies on our Netflix account. The kitchen is well furnished with dishes, cookware and small appliances (blender, toaster, etc). There is a great fire pit for s'mores, and the cabin even has corn hole board, which made for some fun competition amongst the boys. Outside on the lower deck, there is brand new grill that worked great with a large table that can seat 10 people for a nice outdoor meal. Regarding the walk to the lake, it's about a 5 minute walk to the lake. It will provide a nice little workout on the way back up. The dock has plenty of slips in case you wanted to rent a boat from Lakes End Marina (highly recommend doing so!) We look forward to the next time when we can enjoy Indian Lake Lodge.

Most Beautiful Stay

This property was true to its listing. My family of four traveled with Three other families; This house still had room to spare. The house was very clean upon arrival and overall, we were all well pleased. If you stay, surely you must go and enjoy the lake. We spent two full days on Nantahalla in a pontoon boat, ski boat, and jet skis. It is a most beautiful area. My family looks forward to returning in the future.

Escape from the Summer heat

We wanted to escape from the Atlanta summer heat, and we succeeded. Temp high 80 degrees and cool at night all week. Beautiful Lake Nantahala is surrounded by mountains with 10 feet of visibility underwater. House was a great fit, and local boat rental from Chance was perfect. Thing to improve: zero cell coverage and unreliable WiFi makes family communication very difficult around the property and dock. Bring CBs

Breathtaking

Everything about this location is amazing. The check in process was super smooth. Communication with Erica was A+. We had issues with the water one night late during our stay and Erica was on top of it and was able to get it fixed in a timely manner. There is ZERO cell service so be prepared to be off the grid. There is wifi but it’s very spotty and works when it wants to, which wasn’t an issue for us. We enjoyed disconnecting. There is a walking path to the dock but save yourself and take the 2 min drive. It’s worth it. The view from the cabin was surreal. Neighbors were amazing. We rented a boat for the week from the marina which was super easy to get to. Spent the week on the clear blue water tubing with the kids. This is definitely a hidden gem we will be back to visit!

Fantastic House

This was a great property. The house was spacious and well equipped with a big backyard. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. It’s a bit of a walk to the lake, but helped us get in our daily exercise. Would definitely go back.

Great Home.

Well laid out house with great amenities. The outside was perfect for yard games and night time fires. Be prepared for a bit of a climb on the way back up from the lake, but the house is great!

Gorgeous Cabin

We rented this cabin for a new year getaway with family. We had grandparents, adults, and kids ranging 2-17. The layout of the home was perfect for us. There’s 2 bedrooms on the top floor, owners suite on the main, a king room and bunk room in the basement. The property was gorgeous and the view was amazing! The walk down to the lake was difficult but fun (our 2 year old was able to do it). Be aware that it is up in the mountains and there is no cell service at all. The only issue we had was checking in. I missed the pdf that was attached to the booking email. We’ve never had that process before when booking VRBO. Because we didn’t have the info downloaded, we couldn’t get in or contact anyone because we had no cell or internet. We had to go find someone at a cabin and use their wifi to call the host. It all worked out! It would be helpful if that info was sent via text or app so it’s not missed in a email. We would definitely rent again! It was a wonderful vacation for all.

Everything was exactly as explained in the listing. Secluded enough from the neighbors to not hear them. Very relaxing sitting by the fire pit at night. Cornhole was a major hit for the family. Communication with management was nice and simple if you needed anything. The walk to the lake was a little rough but still doable. Also driving to the lake was easy. Great places around the lake to get a pontoon and jetskis. Overall a great experience and will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Great views and lovely house!

Our extended family had a great week at Indian Lake Lodge! Loved the modern decor and open design, gorgeous lake/mountain views, and large private lot. It was really nice to have the pool table and downstairs TV/relaxing area for the teens, and the deck/fireplace just off the great room was a favorite spot for everyone. Nice picnic table/grill area too. If you've been to Nantahala before, you will appreciate that the driveway is easy to navigate (and definitely follow the check-in directions *to*the*letter* because the roads get really steep!). Good communication with owner. We got used to the walk to the dock, but it was a switch from previous houses that we've rented at Nantahala not to be able to pop quickly back and forth from the house to the dock/boat if you've forgotten something. If you've got really old or really young folks with you, or anyone with mobility issues, be aware that the walk is very steep, even taking the road. Also, in the category of "good to know," be aware, particularly if you have work obligations, that the wifi isn't reliable for streaming or up/downloading, and is spottier during peak times, and there is no cell signal at all (shout out to Andrews Public Library for providing a great spot for one of us that needed strong and reliable signal for a work call that couldn't be postponed until after vacation!). VRBO's bathroom descriptions are a little confusing (four bathrooms have a tub or shower icon in the Rooms and Beds section) -- but to be clear for those like us with a mish-mash of families together, it's three full baths (the K primary bedroom has a full bath, the 2 Q rooms upstairs share a jack-n-jill bath; and the bunk room and downstairs K room share a hall bath) plus a powder room on the main floor. Very enjoyable week all around -- Nantahala is such a gem of a lake!

Beautiful retreat

We loved staying at this beautiful retreat for our family vacation. The house is a pretty timber frame, comfortable, well appointed and has a gorgeous lake view. We especially enjoyed the round dining table for dinners, the porch and outdoor fireplace, and the view from the living area. Our teens especially enjoyed the downstairs movie room. And Lake Nantahala! Cool, clear water surrounded mountains, with minimal boat traffic. We rented a pontoon and explored every corner. Tubing was a blast for the brave and hilarious to watch. Highly recommend this property

Beautiful Cabin Family Trip

The cabin is beautifully crafted. Loved the views of the mountains every morning. Had lots of games for the family to play. All the rooms were unique for each family member. We created great memories in the cabin.

Great Mountain Lake Getaway

We had a fantastic stay. It's a spacious and well appointed cabin with outstanding views. Great place for gathering with extended family with large common areas for games and hanging out and plenty of bedrooms for your own space. It has a very nice yard with a fire pit and is just a short walk down to beautiful Lake Nantahala.

Beautiful View

The cabin was spacious for my family and the views were fantastic. Having a short trail to the lake was perfect, and I loved that we had a boat dock area. The beds and linens are all very comfortable, and the outdoor fireplace was nice as well. The cleanliness could have been better upon arrival and the Wifi was spotty, but overall a great location and cabin. The main TVs in the living room and basement were perfect to watch football games on. The property manager is fantastic and very responsive. We had a wonderful time making memories at this place. Make sure to rent a boat and explore the lake. You won’t regret it!

Great Family Gathering

Absolutely wonderful property and courteous attention from Erica. We gathered family from five different states for a relaxing time together and couldn't have asked for a better place to do it. Do follow the directions (as some in our group failed to do!) as the 'short cut' Google maps suggests isn't for anything other than a four wheel drive. Again, the Indian Lake Lodge is a really great place.

Peaceful Lake Retreat

Beautiful home with lake and mountain views exactly as advertised. Master on main was great for older parents. Covered porch, kitchen and living room were all comfortable, clean and functional. Local marina was excellent for boat rentals. Walking down to dock using neighborhood road was much easier than the trail - very short, but steep, walk. Lake was VERY quiet - only a few boats around. Neighborhood was also very quiet. Grill worked great and we played a ton of bocce ball in the backyard. Owner was very helpful and responsive when we were booking-can’t wait to return and we really appreciate them sharing such a special place with others!

LOVED THE HOUSE!

Excellent! Very clean. House fit our family perfect. Loved the yard where the kids could play outside. Loved the outdoor fireplace. Access to and from the water was a little trying but all managed. Looking forward to going back and staying with them next year!!
