"This accommodation was located facing the water which is exactly what we wanted. It was easy to locate and comfortable and we loved just sitting in the little alcove facing the water."
"Very welcoming open hosts who offer lovely facilities and great guest care. When i jokingly added "boerewors" (unique South African sausage) to the breakfast menu selection, the host drove to Burnie to source some (not easy to find) and lo and behold it appeared on my plate for breakfast! Fantastic service - above and beyond!"
"I absolutely love the style of this property and garden. It is very relaxing and we were lucky to have all the common areas to ourselves being the off season. "
"Loved my little get away. Beautiful little part of Tassie. Fantastic friendly service. Carolyn lent me her own personal phone charger for the duration of my stay ( forgot mine ). Lots of easy walking tracks around the river. Will definitely be back .
"
"The property has the most wonderful views from its elevated position. The driveway is steep - but worth it. Imagine beautiful sunsets in front of a roaring fire on the deck in autumn - that’s what we got. (Not sure if the owners arranged the sunsets, but the fire & indoor wood burner were ready to light.)
Kitchen was stocked with choice of cereals plus milk & juice for breakfast plus other nice touches. There were many appliances & cookware options and a BBQ to boot.
Bathroom & kitchen were very clean, but allergies were triggered in the bedroom (maybe dusty curtains?).
Local wildlife in the garden was an added bonus.
Smithton is located in the north-west, close to the Tarkine drive & Stanley. It has grocery stores & coffee shops making this a great property to base yourself for a few days or just as a romantic getaway.

"This property was in a great location. We hardly used the car during our stay and enjoyed walking everywhere. It was so well decked out and had everything we could possibly need. So many lovely pictures and personal touches. I would definitely love to stay here again!"
"The cabin was very private and overlooked the lake. Bed was very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment. Nice ground area to relax, explore and walk around.
It was about a 5/6 minute drive into Stanley. "
"We absolutely would recommend "The Lodge" as your base while visting Stanley. The lodge was beautifully decorated with a quirkiness which we loved. The sunroom with its big windows framed our water views. The viewing platform for seeing the penguins at dusk was just a quick 5 minute stroll from "The Lodge" and we were able to walk around most of the quaint town and explore all its eateries and shops."
"Very nice B&B in scenic, peaceful town of Stanley. Rhonda & Chris are gracious hosts who provide excellent service and maintain the facility in pristine condition. The amenities are modern and the tasty breakfast is served in a cozy dining room. We enjoyed our stay at The Ark and would have loved to stay longer "
"We stayed in the studio cottage. It is with good ambiance and very spacious unit with full stocked kitchen facilities. The sea view is excellent and all made our stay very pleasant.
There was a recent ownership transition and check in was through a phone call. We booked another unit originally with welcome gift and that was changed and we only found out after checking in. The new owner called and apologised and promised some compensation but never heard again.
There was no instruction on WiFi connection and eventually connected but didn’t work well.
Stanley is unique place to visit and this cottage made it very walkable to all attractions easily."
"Five star all the way for this property ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This cozy little spa cottage has got literally EVERYTHING. Well set out and equipped this little gem is amazing.
Thankyou Ellie we just had the best time checking out the cafes, landscape and surrounding beauty, we felt tucked in. Will be back "
"A nice spacious, well equipped house. Surrounded by commercial property but close to the supermarket and a great base for day tripping around the Tarkine Valley."
