The Space:
Treetops 2 by Tiny Away is located in Walmer, about a 1.5-hour drive from Melbourne Airport and just 27 minutes from Bendigo. This off-grid holiday home is surrounded by bushland, neighbouring farmlands, wildlife, and charming towns like Maldon, Golden Square, Kangaroo Flat, and Castlemaine.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with a convenient car parking space, an outdoor fire pit, split system air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste holding tank, hand basin, and gas-heated shower.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you’re booking for a group, we also have a second tiny home called “Treetops 1” available with 24 hours’ notice. We also have other holiday homes and caravans nearby, so please keep noise to a minimum.
This tiny home is powered by limited solar energy. If the batteries run low, a backup generator will start automatically.
Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny home and are welcome to explore the property. For guest’s safety, we kindly ask guests to not enter the fenced paddocks without the host's supervision or permission.
The Neighborhood:
Treetops 1 by Tiny Away is a peaceful farmstay in Walmer, just 1.5 hours from Melbourne Airport. It’s 14 minutes from Castlemaine, known for its arts scene, and 27 minutes from Bendigo, which has great food, wine, and shopping. The historic Porcupine Village was a gold mining town in the 1850s. For local dining, try Cafe Maldon, Blue Cockatoo Bar, and Maldon Take Away. The Golden Nugget is a popular restaurant with live music on Sundays.
If you love the outdoors, Mt Tarrengower Lookout and The Rock of Ages.offers beautiful bushwalking trails and scenic views.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 45 mins, 46km drive from Bendigo Airport
- 1.5 hrs, 120km drive from Melbourne Airport
By public transport:
- Transport to Castlemaine or Bendigo comes at an extra cost with notice.
- Melbourne via train to Castlemaine - host can pick up by request with notice.
- Hits can offer free transport to and from Maldon with prior arrangements.
Other Things to Note:
- Gas BBQ Grill is available
- No smoking inside, except outdoors
- Solar-powered unit with air-conditioning
- Farm guidelines will be sent before booking
- No unregistered visitors or guests allowed
- A bag of firewood costs $15 - subject to availability
- Firewood and eggs are also available for an additional cost
- Telstra has a good signal, and Optus has a weak signal; others have no signal
- We have friendly animals on the property, and kangaroos often come near the holiday home
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- One pet is allowed with 24 hours’ notice and must be kept on a leash at all times. Cats are not allowed. Full policy will be sent before arrival.
Off-grid guidelines:
Guests are advised to bring portable power banks and charge their electronics in advance, as power can be limited. Please save energy where possible, especially when using the AC, to avoid running out of power.
Important note:
- No BBQ grill and outdoor fire pit available during a total fire ban
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property.
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
