"Honestly, after a number of disappointing stays recently, we weren't expecting much so we could avoid being disappointed. But, we were anything but. We were in the maple room, which had private access to outside, a nice living room, a small kitchen (no stove), a large bedroom and very comfortable bed, and a semi small bathroom that was laid out well. "The Lodge is very convenient for skiing, located at the base of the mountains next to the lifts. I stayed there in mid-March during many schools' spring break, and the hotel was very busy with lots of families. All of the staff that I met were friendly and helpful. I dined twice at the two restaurants on site: Alpine Hall and Tipsy Trout. Service quality was mixed. One night at Alpine Hall was professional, the other was amateurish with a poorly trained server and an out-of-date wine list. Service at Tipsy Trout was good. Unfortunately, I got very sick after having dinner at Alpine Hall my last night at the Lodge. When I reported my illness to a hotel employee, she asked what I had eaten and said that other guests had reported getting sick. I did not hear anything further from the Lodge. "

"Bob was an excellent host and his house is the perfect homebase for a Vermont ski vacation. It's a short, easy drive away from Smuggler’s Notch and secluded while still being close to Underwood and Jericho where you can find stores and restaurants (and the snowflake museum!). It's also right next to an excellent sledding hill and Bob has a couple of sleds you can borrow. Our 7-year old son had a great time! The inside of the house is cozy and relaxing and provides a great respite after a day on the slopes (or at the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory). We will definitely be looking to return. "
