About this property

Like Your Own Private Park - the Definition of Get-away-from-it-all!

The cabin is set in 120 private acres which will be yours to roam while you are visiting. With 1500 feet of native lake shore, you might not encounter another person the duration of your stay! We have spent the last year transforming one of the first cabins on the lake into our own personal hide-away. Just 30 feet from the lake, you will feel like your sleeping on the water! Newly landscaped to restore the area around the cabin to native shoreline habitat. Equipped with big-screen TV, cable, and high-speed internet. This property isn't for everyone, but if your idea of vacation includes the words glamping, secluded, get-away-from-it-all, quiet, and private, than it might be for you! The cabin has a sleeping loft with two twin xl beds that can be pushed together for a king. Downstairs there is a nice sized sectional couch with an ottoman that converts into a cot. There is a small kitchenette downstairs that includes a microwave and a refrigerator. Bathroom facilities are primitive (i.e. there is an outhouse). After a long day on the trails or in the lake, relax in the wood-fired sauna. We have set up a unique deck with a hot tub and solar shower available in the summer months. Snowmobile in/out in the winter months. Please note that the cabin itself is about a 1/4 mile drive from the main road. There is a steep incline to drive the last 500 ft down to the cabin. Those with rear-wheel drive should consider parking at the top of the hill and walking to the shoreline. The cabin is primitive, and you will need to bring your own drinking water. There is a charcoal and gas grill on site. Unless otherwise arranged, you will need to bring your own bedding and pack out your garbage. In doing this, I will waive all cleaning fees..

Honest/Hopefully Helpful Review

I want to start by saying that I write this review to hopefully be helpful to the owners and future renters. The description of the property is mostly accurate. I am 7.5 months pregnant and handled the primitiveness just fine. No running water was the primary challenge but it was doable. The location is very peaceful. On the side of the cabin there is no one around and we were able to let the dogs out without any worries. I took the available paddle board out and thoroughly enjoyed pausing to take in the views. The beds are very comfortable and it was amazing to wake up well rested. We fished a lot and were not disappointed. The lake is amazing, however the claim of maybe a boater or two is inaccurate. There were plenty of boats and water sports going on and a party pontoon late one night. It wasn't as much as the super popular lakes but there is enough traffic to counter the claim. The warning of the steep driveway is legit. So choose the proper vehicle if available. There were some things that would make it better. First, we encountered no propane or charcoal. I reached out via email to the owner with no response. Luckily we managed and used the fire pit and I'd brought an electric skillet. There are no cast iron pans so if you're planning on using the fire I'd bring at least one. There is a lack of decent seating in and out, other than the couch. We'd brought a couple chairs, so again ok. There is a small table inside, very limited counter space, and nothing outside table wise so we used the top of our cooler to remedy. If you have a collapsable table or something else you might think would work, I would bring it up. My suggestions are really dependent on how much you want to rough it or make it a little easier. Overall, we really did enjoy our stay and it was a great getaway.

5/5 Excellent

Glamping at its finest!

My husband, dogs and I all had a lovely 3-night stay at Sara's cabin. She has installed a sink in the kitchen and while there's no running water, it drains into a large bucket which can be emptied out. It made doing dishes and washing up so much easier! The outhouse was very well kept and did not smell like a typical pit toilet. The hot tub was clean and comfortable and a lovely touch. And the beds! We were so surprised at how comfortably we slept all 3 nights! But the best part by far was the privacy. There's no evidence of neighbors in either direction and the cabins across the lake are far enough away that you can't see the people staying at them. It was so peaceful and we were able to just unwind and relax the whole time. Thanks so much for the stay!

Camping was relaxing

The owner didn't have everything ready for us. We got our 4page check in instructions on our way to the cabin after I've asked about it. And Sara came in on the second day to mow the grass. I think it's too expensive for a primitive cabin. Otherwise, we had relaxing time and good fishing. You can catch a turtle too :) Lots of mosquitoes, couldn't walk as much I would like to in the woods. The lake is not really for swimming. I loved the outside shower the most. The sunsets were very beautiful, took a lot of pictures.

Cute and cozy

We enjoyed the peace and quiet. The only people you see are in their boats on the water. It was great to relax watching the sunset. When the weather was cool in the morning or night the hot tub felt great. The beach has sand by the house for the kids to play, but it isn't sandy in the water. We loved the hiking trails. We brought a blow up mattress and just blew that up each night and slept in the living room instead of the loft because we could watch movies in bed and get in and out of the house easier to go to the out house at night. We enjoyed slowing down and enjoying the simple life. Description of property is accurate, it is primitive but that is what we loved about it.

Very quiet location, great getaway from busy life.

Very quiet location, great getaway from our busy life. We would Recommend this cabin to anyone who likes rustic cabins. It’s camping without the tent.
