Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway on the Cacapon River just 2 hours from downtown DC. This newly remodeled private home is situated on 27 acres with 1200 feet of river front to explore. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, living room, sunroom, stainless kitchen and a full length porch with outdoor dining for 10. Watch the bald eagles fly overhead or just listen to the music of the Cacapon run past your house. Our high speed WIFI makes it ideal for remote work.

We provide everything you need, including all linens, bath towels/hand towels/washcloths, extra ‘river’ towels, paper towels, toilet paper, fully equipped kitchen for the discerning chef including basic spices and sugar, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, hand soap, and dish soap/detergent.

In addition to the 3 bedrooms (2 with queens and 1 with 2 twins), there is a queen pull-out couch for an extra guest or two. Ascending the stairs from the driveway, you will immediately be able to take in the incredible river views from the deck that spans the entire front of the house.

Maximum of 2 dogs permitted for an additional fee

Guests can enjoy fishing, kayaking, swimming, and more just a few hundred feet from the front of the home! Or enjoy the river by just sitting on the edge of the river in the comfortable river chairs provided by River Perch.

As River Perch is near many national forests, national parks, and state parks, it makes a great starting point for exploring this part the Appalachian and Blue Ridge mountains. Shenandoah National Park (48 miles), Cacapon Resort State Park (26 miles), Lost River State Park (42 miles). Hiking in the George Washington National Forest or the Nature Conservancy's Ice Mountain are less than 20 minutes away.

This property was the most wonderful “home-away-from-home.” The interior was flawlessly clean, welcoming, and had all the amenities and necessities a family (with two kids and two dogs) could need! The owners of the River Perch on the Cacapon were gracious hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We truly felt comfortable and relaxed the whole time.

Wonderful Getaway

The visit was amazing! Although we had high expectations based on previous reviews, we were not disappointed. The house is very modern and spacious. The deck and the view of the river can't be beat and we wouldn't change a thing. We also got to meet Glenn who was incredibly responsive. We'll definitely be back with more family.

Simply put, this property is amazing! The scenery and surroundings are so tranquil and beautiful. My family and I enjoyed making s'mores at the fire pit, while listening to the river. We also enjoyed tubing and fishing the river as well. The house itself is well equipped and has all the modern amenities you could want or need. The host is easily one of the best hosts I've had in all of my travels and vacations. He is extremely attentive and responsive and gives great advice and recommendations on what to do in the local surroundings.We loved every aspect of our vacation at this beautiful location and we plan on making it a yearly trip!

Beautiful getaway!

We had a wonderful 5-day getaway at the River Perch! The three kids spent hours on the river each day, we went tubing and kayaking, we got to see our dog enjoy her first real swims, and then we got to relax in the very cozy, very clean house with the beautiful front porch view of the Cacapon. Glenn made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay and was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Highly recommend this spot for a trip away!

Amazing gateway weekend location!

We had an amazing stay at this property! The house was even better than expected—spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. Glenn, the host was truly the best. Accommodating in every way. The house was clean, spacious and located on a manicured lot. The view was awesome. Right on the river. We ate every meal on the outside covered deck. Every aspect of our stay was awesome. Our only regret was we had to leave. I can't say enough good things about this awesome property and host.

River Getaway

We absolutely loved the River Perch! The house was perfect and the location overlooking the river was amazing. Glenn was the best host. Our trip was short and sweet but he made sure we made the most of our time there. He recommended a wonderful hike, set us up for tubing, told us where to get the best burger (it was the best), and showed us a great spot for a sunset hike. It was an unforgettable trip. We loved it!

You might have thought you stayed at a place where the owner put a lot of thought into taking care of you, but you’ve never stayed here, I travel for work I book through vrbo three out of the four weeks of a month by far the best treatment and presentation by a host I’ve ever had my hats off to this host for the tremendous thought and effort he has put into you!!! Glenn was super communicative and answered all our questions beforehand. He was so nice and even provided s'mores kits and brought us some of his garden's produce as we were leaving. The property is wonderful and at a perfect place on the river. You can ride the rapids over and over on the provided tubes or put in further up and take a leisurely float to the house, which we did many times. You can hear the gentle rapids on the porch, and it's very peaceful. The house itself has literally everything you need including a hose under the porch to clean off after the river, a washer and dryer, a fully appointed kitchen, toilet paper and paper towels, and plenty of river towels. Glenn told us many cool things to do in the area, but we were having so much fun at the house that we only left once to go to a restaurant he recommended, Bonnie Blue. It was delicious. We will try to come back next year!

We had a wonderful time staying at River Perch. The hosts are generous and the property is beautiful, comfortable and well-stocked, inside and out. We kayaked and enjoyed the river, hiked a nearby trail and enjoyed live music in town one evening.

Perfect weekend getaway!

My friends and I had a wonderful time. The house was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed hanging out at the river and listening to the rippling waters from the covered deck. Communication was great. Would definitely visit again.

Clean and cozy river cabin

Really lovely cabin that feels like new inside and out. Great covered deck that we enjoyed even during a rainy weekend. Extremely helpful and welcoming host who has all the extras for stay already included like paper towels, linens and a kitchen utensils. The river view is beautiful and it’s a quiet and relaxing spot. Relaxation at its finest!

Beautifully renovated house right on the river, where you could listen to the river and the birds from the covered porch. Firepit was perfect for cooking up hot dogs and smores. Glenn was an excellent host, making sure our stay was comfortable. Will definitely stay again in the future!
