An old room with space and a view

Posted May 25, 2015 on Hotels
Very central and an older building but owners were charming and allowed us to park the car in a secure place.Plenty of space in the room for luggage but if older buildings do not appeal then look elsewhere but one could not find a more central position

very central, parking in square opposite. stopped one night to break long trip. not much choice of food. no food allowed in rooms, but table and chairs in foyer were fine and more comfortable. narrow steps, not suitable for elderly or big baggage. wifi ok. multiple options. areawifi worked best. head for cordeliers car park signs.

(In best Seinfeld accent) "No Pizza For You!"

To be fair, the De la Poste is not the only hotel in France with a difficult shower and dim, oddly-configured rooms. Nor is it the only one (as I was surprised to discover-although I had been to France several times before) to frown on the eating of leftovers in one's room (they're afraid you'll leave a mess of 'miettes' and 'taches' behind); and, to their credit, the very agreeable woman at the desk let me check out without charging me for the next two nights, which I had reserved as well. But I really didn't care for 'tude on the male owner or manager. "On est restaurant ici," ("We're a restaurant here.") he told me as I went towards the stairs with a pizza box from an Italian place (I was dining solo and they didn't have individual sizes). I said (in French) "But you're a hotel, yes? And I'm staying here." "We're a restaurant AND a hotel," he said, pointing at the box and wagging his finger, adding "One doesn't do this. You can eat it outside." I asked him where the trash was, disposed of it and checked out. The Hotel Maxime is a bit pricier, but just on the river, MUCH nicer & worth it. And they must actually own a vacuum cleaner because I made sure as I checked in that you can 'picnic' in your room (an excellent way to economize and take advantage of farmer's markets, fresh produce, cheese, bread and wine in France. Or pizza).

お勧めできないホテル

値段の割に、部屋の設備が悪い、周囲は幹線道路沿いの為、音が響く。 受付スタッフは感じが良い。 周囲にレストランは多く、食事に困らない。
