The best area to stay in Madalena is along its central coastline, particularly near the main village, which offers convenient access to amenities and the ocean.

This area is the heart of Madalena, characterized by its proximity to the ferry port and the main road that connects the island's key attractions. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and small hotels offering ocean views and direct access to the water. The village itself has local eateries and shops for essentials.

For couples, staying near the main village provides a relaxed base with easy access to boat tours to the nearby Ilhéu das Rolas or excursions to explore the island's volcanic landscapes. The convenience of having restaurants and the waterfront within walking distance makes it a pleasant choice for a tranquil getaway.

Travelers looking for a quiet retreat will appreciate the guesthouses slightly outside the immediate village center, but still along the coastline. These locations offer more seclusion while maintaining easy access to the village's facilities.

The best time to go to Madalena is during the dry season, which runs from June to September.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the island's natural beauty and enjoying outdoor activities. For travelers interested in wildlife, particularly birdwatching, the dry season offers excellent opportunities as many species are more active and visible.
