Pros: -Excellent location on the Awassa Lake -Service was tremendous, everybody was helpful and extremely kind -Free breakfast -Price is affordable Cons: -Wifi is bad and non-existent half the time(important for communication to other countries) -The bathroom smelled bad, we changed rooms but the problem persisted. Seemingly from sewage after flushing, even after a day of non-use -Food looked good but lacked flavor/seasoning -Not accepting credit cards at check-out for incidentals is very inconvenient

We stayed 12 years ago and it nothing has been updated. A little disappointed. The staff was great. The bungalow, even though listed as having a king pullout sofa and a king bed, only had a king bed and 2 chairs. We had to pay $30 dollars extra to get another bed in the room.

Fawlty Towers by the Lake – don’t stay in this dump LONG STORY SHORT: This so-called resort provided a substandard room, didn’t fix the issues, and lied to us about the modest concession they had initially agreed to as an apology. Dishonest people and overpriced, poorly maintained rooms. Don’t stay there! LONG STORY LONG: Having traveled a bit, we are used to different standards in various regions and countries — we understand that in Ethiopia, hotels and services may have issues we aren’t used to, and we are generally happy to roll with it and not get bothered. However, after our previous mid-range hotel in Harar had no running water, we were looking forward to our several-day stay at the Lewi Resort in Hawassa, which billed itself as a four-star establishment. How sadly disappointed we were. The room we paid for ($132 per night) didn’t have a proper shower (just a trickle), a working telephone (though a disconnected one was “helpfully” sitting on the desk in the room??! Why??), and critically, there was no air conditioning — one of the reasons we booked the Lewi in the first place — which was falsely advertised both on their website and on Expedia. For a hotel in a lower price bracket, we likely wouldn’t have made a big deal about these issues, but for a so-called “four-star” resort at this price point, not having a functioning room, particularly the lack of air conditioning, was frustrating. We raised these concerns checking in on our 1st day. - see Google reviews

There are mistakes in the hotel description as there is no airconditioning, no tea & coffee making facilities, no kettle. We booked a family suite with 2 bedrooms, but on arrival they did not have it available and instead gave us a different set of room which were fine. Even though the descriptions did not meet reality, the feel of the hotel was lovely and friendly. The monkeys add some African interest and the staff are very helpful. Breakfasts are hit and miss. Book a room with lake view as these have more air flow (as there is no AC)

the only thing that was OK, was the bread! Bed is a made up circle that was very hard due to not having a mattress . Walls had holes by the windows that were not sealed so insects were free to enter! Food was terrible, made me sick for two days! So called city tour was never available! Mosquito net above the bed was useless! The staff was very friendly but who cares about that when everything else is terrible!

I was excited about going to a hotel with pool but when I arrived the swimming area was not available because of renovation. The room looked better on photos than in real life, the wait time for a menu in the restaurant is 30 minutes and the same to enter the spa there was pre-booked. My expectations was very high before I arrived but Lewi didn't live up to them. Alot of promises in the hotel description was not kept and there were no refund in price or any extra service to make up for the lack. Beautiful veiw and nice little boat trip (when we finally could go just before checkout)
