It was never discovered by the Spanish, so it's really well preserved. Since this site has about 3 hours of dirt roads to get to it, it's virtually deserted. (16 reviews) We stayed in Unit #17 a 2 bedroom ground floor unit that walked out to the beautiful pool. I could not recommend it enough! The condo itself was beautifully decorated and had lots of thoughtful touches - coolers, extra yetis, beach bags, sunscreen, etc. it was a dream. The pool was huge and beautiful and the poolside bartender Ronald was a great guy (as were all of the staff we interacted with). We absolutely loved the location - About 25 mins outside of downtown, 10-15 to the Truck Stop and about 25 to Secret Beach. Overall our stay was perfect! We did this on our own without a guide and would do it again. But this drive is not for the faint of heart, the road is a mix between rocky gravel and dirt. It is extremely bumpy for the entire 2.5 hours. We pushed our rental car to the limits. Caracol though was amazing and definitely worth the crazy drive. $5 (maybe $10) US entry fee, and they have restrooms and picnic tables there if you want to bring your own lunch. ### 4/5 - Good Verified traveler Be prepared for a bumpy ride. ### 5/5 - Excellent Verified traveler Long ride on a dirt road but was an excellent trip.
