In 1971 a group of hippies took over abandoned military barracks and from there developed their own rules about their society. You can walk around this village for free and see the home made houses, locals going about their day, artwork, organic eateries and nature. Take a walk down pusher street to really experience this self governing town. See the hash sellers in balaclavas and masks behind their stalls, they are open 24 hours a day and sell 30 different types of hash. It is very important that you DON'T TAKE PHOTOS in this area, Christiania has a list of rules when you enter please follow them, remember you are entering their home!
