"It's a very good base for walking in the area, though the lake is not as pretty as Titisee up the road. Parking was easy, luckily, but they also give you a pass while you're there and you can take the train wherever you want. If you have a dog, the facilities are good and they were very kind. There's a nice park just up the hill, great for early morning or late night walkies. Very convenient to a grocery store, an atm, and right across the street from the tourist information center! The staff were very nice and the breakfast was good. It's a very old building, but the rooms are nice, and I slept very well."

"We were looking for a smaller hotel with a traditional Schwarzwald flair in a beautiful location, and this fit the bill perfectly! This is an old house, but entirely up to modern standards inside, with a friendly staff and warm feel. The room was cozy, looking out on the quiet main plaza with its church. We had dinner twice in the excellent restaurant. Breakfast was great - don't forget to make yourself fresh juice or even get eggs to order. There was even a small swimming pool, sauna, a desk with lounge chairs, a great view, and a bar. The Schluchsee was a bit low in water when we were there, but I imagine it is prettier when full, so we hiked around nearby Titisee instead. Highly recommended. "

"What a lovely property,what a lovely view. But lacking in creature comforts and in need of a major renovation. Breakfast area lovely view, one girl doing a fabulous job with what she has at her disposal, juggling service with table clearance. The rooms are not cheap and they are of two star value. My opinion is that the the management put some money back into this impressive historical Hotel. "

" My family loved our apartment in St. Blasien. It is a short walk down to the Lidl grocery store or the many bakeries and coffee shops on the main street. The apartment was well equipped with coffee and condiments like sugar and salt. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was roomy. The internet was fast and it had a screen mirroring TV for your smartphone. The living room/ dining area was open and while the terrace was restricted for us to a snowball fight after 6" plus inches of snow, it would be fantastic for a summer night as well. There is a lot of history to the area and to the Abbey including the fact that the family of Franklin D. Roosevelt, president of the United States during World War II, used to summer here and enjoy the benefits of the health spa and the outdoor activities. A breath of fresh air for this native Tennessean, it was like visiting a town Gatlinburg would have been inspired by. Thank you Michaela for a wonderful stay.
