Check in was confusing and somewhat disruptive due to booking through Expeida. At first I was told by reception that I had not paid and that I owed the full amount £45.00. I went to my room . About ten minutes later whilst in the bathroom reception knocked on my door and said that I need to contact Expedia to sought the payment, he showed me a contact text on his phone from Expedia. I checked my phone and found the electronic receipt from Expedia stating I had pre paid. I went to reception and showed this. I went back to my room and I checked my bank account, which stated that I had paid Expedia for the stay two days ago. So, again I had to leave my room and show the above at reception, which definitely disrupted my stay after a long and tiring days travel to get there. Something you certainly don't want or need.

This once amazing hotel is showing signs of complacency! Stay here twice a year over the past few years this has always been a great hotel but now they need to work on a number of items. Breakfast ! Was dismal stay longer than 2 days and it’s still the same items that’s if the staff can be bothered to refill them. Rooms are now looking tired and not all the staff know how to make them up. Finally bar staff / bar stay away and walk down the road the staff here are not great. Don’t think I will stay again

A beautiful building but in need of renovating, most of it was clean but a lot of high dust and cobwebs, the dining room was not clean at all, tables needed cleaning and food left uncovered with flies around, the staff was polite and friendly.
