The Old School House started life as a Wesleyan Chapel built 1845,. It became part of village school the early 20th century . It was converted into a 4 bedroomed house on the 90's and is now comfortable well furnished holiday accommodation. It is situated by the pond in the pretty west Norfolk village of Wereham in the heart of the countryside used for the TV series 'Kingdom' with Steven Fry.
The House provides good base for visiting many Norfolk attractions. Recommended trips are, Sandringham, Oxborough Hall, Hunstanton, King’s Lynn, Ely, North Norfolk coast , Norwich, Norfolk broads and Cambridge A car is strongly recommended as there is no shop in our small village. Supermarkets are 4 miles away in Downham Market. ( They do deliver to Wereham.).
The George and dragon pub opposite is very friendly, serves good food and good beer so is definitely worth a visit.

Large accommodations!
This seasoned property was well-situated in a small village just across the pond from the local pub. It provided us with plenty of room for five adults and was a good home base for exploring some of the coastal areas of Norfolk. We loved the ability to have a fire in the fireplace each night. Our host, Ian, was very welcoming and helpful. While some of the appliances could stand to be updated, overall, we had a pleasant stay.

Spacious, Baby Friendly House in Lovely English Village
'The Old School House' provides generous and flexible accommodation, including all amenities needed for including infants (crib, high chair etc.). The host is most accessible and responsive, and Wereham is a tranquil and engaging village (with a great local pub providing excellent food), close to many interesting sites for day trips. A lovely place for an enjoyable holiday.

Loved this huge but homely home. The location overlooking the lake was an added bonus. Ian and Debbie left us a bottle of Prossecco, sweets and a lovely card, really nice touch. A neighbour brought us round some home grown tomatoes 🍅 I would definitely go back and would definitely recommend 👌 Thank you Ian & Debbie xxx

Great stay wonderful location
Very relaxing few days in a very friendly village. The village is very picturesque and the house sits right on the edge of the village pond which as a temporary resident you are allowed to fish. The village pub is very welcoming and serves lovely food at very reasonable prices. The village is in a great location for touring around Norfolk. Ian is a great host and even provided access for us to plug in our electric car overnight so we were fully charged every morning. That saved us alot of running around. Great shower in one bathroom and a bath in the main bathroom which is very large. Beds are very comfortable and the house has all the amenities you could need. Highly recommended.

Fabulous property in every way.
We were an extended family, grandparents, adult children, grandchildren (6 to 15) and two dogs. Ian was a superb host, there when needed but not intrusive and extremely welcoming. The property was lovely, well equipped and warm. Plenty of room for our party of 9 plus 2 dogs. The location in the village was also ideal overlooking the pond. The pub opposite made us feel at home too, staff and customers friendly, food great. I really hope that we will be able to make a return visit. Thank you so much Debbie and Ian

Great size house although it is looking a bit tired with quite a few cobwebs but that didn’t spoil the stay. Lovely village with friendly residents and pub. Communication with owners was excellent.

Weekend in Wereham
Lovely spacious property in a beautiful setting. Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend for a large family/friends getaway. In reality not much to do in the village (apart from enjoying the idlyic setting), and we all have cars so were able to travel around. It's a shame that the local pub doesn't serve food every day, having said that it didn't stop us enjoying a few drinks sitting outside and watching the world go by! The village pond outside the property has ducks and is full of fish! As I said previously, such an idyllic setting. Great hosts, great property!

We had a lovely long weekend stay at the old school house.
Overlooks a village pond and opposite a lovely friendly pub. Plenty of parking. Nearby walks for dogs and children's play area. Ideal location for us as our son was getting married in a barn nearby. Plenty of combinations for sleeping, loads of extra bedding if needed. Big kitchen table - ideal for family meals. Ian, the owner was extremely helpful, contacting us several times before our stay, and again once we arrived. We would definitely recommend it. Can't think of any negatives.

Great stay at the Old Schoolhouse!
Welcomed by owners Ian and Debbie on arrival who showed us into the house. A lovely surprise of home made scones with jam and cream laid out for us in the spacious kitchen. They were extremely helpful and kind. The house is large with a great kitchen and sitting room . There are four good sized bedrooms upstairs with an ensuite and family bathroom. There is also a downstairs toilet. There is a bench, small table and chairs outside the front in the little garden for sitting and gazing at the stars on a mild evening. The washing machine drying rack and use of the dryer in the owner's garage was very helpful for us after 10 days traveling before arriving at this lovely spot. It is situated in a small friendly village with church, pub and duck pond which had large carp who come up for the bread you feed the ducks. One day we even saw a dray horse being exercised walking through the village. The pub was clean and the owners friendly and helpful. We had a couple of meals there that were reasonably priced and cooked well. Thanks for a great stay. Kiki and Phil
