History everywhere in Banda Neira!

Fishing boats in Namrole, South Buru
During our initial surveys, we frequently took trips to the surrounding islands - many of which were uninhabited. This was our approach to Pulau Pisang (Banana Island) where we met the sole resident of the island and enjoyed the pristine beach.

You can hire a boat captain from Banda Neira to take you to any of the surrounding islands, but you should know that these trips are through open seas on very small boats. The weather can and has changed on a dime out here leaving these one motor boats struggling to get through the waves.

Find a captain you trust.
