Matapouri beach is a long stretch of sand with clear turquoise water. Walk along the beach to the end then into the water to walk around a rocky outcropping to reach the last bit of beach. From there it’s a 20 minute walk up and over a hill to reach the Mermaid Pools. Deep blue tide pools that you can swim in, worth the extra work to get there.

Would love to make a suggestion to have some pedestal fans available to use at night for sleeping, it’s such a nice warm bach but unbearable for sleep…….we wished we’d brought our own fans. Also Bachcare sent us the wrong lockbox code but we’re lucky they answered the phone with the first call and rectified the problem. Thankyou to the owners for renting out their home so people like us can have a summer holiday at the best location!!"

There was a small amount of road noise during the day, but the landscaping made any traffic invisible. It was so nice to sit in the sun, surrounded by garden. An oasis in our busy week! "

"They rooms were perfect. We had a great night. Some of us walked and the walkers took their time but we asked for the key to unlock the room. Staff were pleasant and very helpful"
