“I am sure this place was epic in the 70s. Now I am sure the only people that would like it would be in their 70s. Literally isn't anything to do after 4-6pm. The little bar/restaurant stayed open till 9pm. The part of the property we stayed in the building was extremely dated and poorly maintained. Our room smelled like mold. The beds, sweet geezus the beds are the worst. The pillows that are provided are couch throw pillows. At night the only time we turned the tv on the sound on the tv kept……

The Goldfinch Room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. Breakfasts are out of this world! Hostess Jill was lovely and very helpful with everything. Highly recommended!”

The room itself was a bit dated and had an awkward layout, making it feel smaller than expected. The walls were quite thin, so noise from neighboring rooms was noticeable. “I was grateful to get a hotel in this location. But it was like walking into a 1970’s hotel. The bathroom was clean and the bed was good. Pet friendly isn’t great if you don’t have a pet. The room smells of pets. We opened the bathroom window and left the door open and it was a little better.”

“The staff was courteous and friendly, and the views from the restaurant were absolutely amazing. The rooms were clean, although they could benefit from some updating and modernization. The food was average and not particularly memorable. That said, it’s important to recognize the hotel’s rural island location, where expectations and available options may be different than at a larger destination. Overall, the property has a lot of potential, especially given the beautiful setting and welcoming……

“It was pretty quiet even though our room was right next to the elevator. The neighborhood feels safe, nice, and clean. It’s conveniently close to grocery stores and restaurants, and not too far from the state park. The only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast—two of the containers were empty with nothing much to eat, and no one came to refill them. So we went out for breakfast nearby. ”

“While it was a very charming, clean, comfortable and a great located hotel in Friday Harbour, our room sat on the back of the hotel, overlooking a grocery store unloading doc, that had bright lights shining through the window all night long (You need black out curtains). At 5am in the morning the first delivery was made with of course lots of banging and the beeping of the truck's back up warning. I would only stay here again if it WAS NOT the Spieden - (1st Floor) Room # 7. The hotel did……

“This has to be the most thoughtful and quaint place we have ever stayed! The small details make everything flawless! From the chocolates beside the bed, to the ear plugs and face masks, bathrobes and slippers, even shower steamers! I wish we would have stayed here the whole trip!”
