This 21cm Skoda canon of the “Crisbecq Battery” had a range of more than 30 kilometres. On D-day (6 June 1944) the battery was engaged in combat with the Allied naval and landing forces on Utah Beach. During the course of the battle, it sank the USS Corry and damaged several other ships. The Crisbecq Battery site is an open air museum and enables visitors to discover how the defence of the German army along the ‘Atlantic Wall’ was organised. #D_day_Normandy #Perspectives #History

"This is a basic, budget hotel. It does exactly what is expected. The room was a good size. The beds were confortable and the bathroom perfectly functionable. It was a bit further out of town than expected, but walkable from the ferry terminaland bus station. There is a bus that goes straughts past tue door, but we made use of the hire scooters."

"I would definitely stay here again, it was such a great location to catch the ferry from Cherbourg and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We checked in quite late, around 7pm, parking and taking my dog were no problem, it was all so easy and in an incredibly impressive historical building. There is a restaurant in the hotel which we didn’t try and also quite a few other places to eat within the town. It felt very safe and quiet. "
