"If you are looking for an experience, the Priory does not disappoint. The only room on the property for guests has ties to the Romans from the year 1070. The church itself is decommissioned, but continues to host concerts. Being from the United States, opportunities to be surrounded by such history do not exist. "The hotel is absolutely charming, uniquely situated inside a gorgeous, historic château, and lovingly maintained and attended to in every detail. Our welcome was warm, kind, and made us feel completely at ease. The hotel was quiet, comfortable, and the breakfast just lovely, in a separate little cafe on the property that was near the castle grounds where you could also sit in a beautiful garden, swim in the pool, and/or play ping pong. Highly recommend. We would come here again!"

HI Poitiers - La Caserne

"As a hostel, I would give the stay 4-5 stars but as a hotel only one. perhaps my understanding of the property was mistaken. My initial welcome was excellent and so I am sorry to have to give such a review as this. The room is absolutely spartan (but clean) but you are given bed sheets on arrival and expected to remove them on departure - a new experience for me at a hotel. The bed was not particularly comfortable, the wash basin had no plug and the shower had a leak so that only limited water was getting through. It also took me a very long time to realise that it was not their intention not to have cover for the windows but that there were shutters that could be lowered by means of a non-descript switch next to the door ie as far away from the windows as was possible. I was delighted to be leaving after only one night."

"This place is perfect for a stop over while driving through France. The buffet style breakfast is excellent value for money as is the hotel itself. There’s secure parking and you can top up with groceries from the next door supermarket before you hit the road again. Will be looking out for other Ace hotels while traveling in the future."

"Great location. Very clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was a decent size as per European standards. Bed comfortable. Our room had a patio in front with table and chairs for great view of the square in front. Lots of restaurants/bar , cafés, shopping very close by. This is an older beautiful building so elevator is very small if you are claustrophobic."

"I have to begin this review by saying that I do not understand how it’s possible that this hotel has four stars. It’s simply not in the right class. The front desk staff were very welcoming and pleasant, the air conditioning in the room was exceptionally good (which was needed during this heatwave), but other than that, the rest of the experience was simply okay. The hotel is in need of renovation in general (very dated decor), but the worst of it is that the door to the room will not close properly. There was a gap between the door jamb and the door even when the door was closed and locked, resulting in in sound-proofing. It also seems like a security issue to me, and it’s shocking that hotel management allows this to remain in this condition. In addition, the room’s refrigerator smelled like Camembert when I first opened it, and I had to get cleaning staff to clean it out for me. One of the coffee cups had splattered coffee stains on the outside, so I’m not sure how thoroughly the cups are cleaned between guests either. The bottom sheet on the bed had black marks on it, and the mattress sagged and was simply not up to 4-star hotel standards. This hotel room did have access to a terrace/balcony (the only standard room with this feature), but it was not maintained. All in all, I had the impression of a hotel hanging on to a 4-star rating that simply doesn’t apply anymore."
