Andeok

Seogwipo

A rocky coastline with a large mountain in the background.
A mountainous landscape with dense green vegetation and traditional architecture at its base.
A large golden Buddha statue, a smaller seated Buddha statue, and a row of prayer bells.
A large ship replica docked at a pier with people around it.
A rocky coastline with a cliff and a group of people gathered at the base.
Hot springs rise up through mountainous terrain home to temples, historic halls and an intriguing tea museum.

On a vacation to Jeju Island, visit Andeok, a lush valley adorned with historic attractions and museums. It has a diverse range of family entertainment sites that complement the meandering mountain trails. Bring your kids to this eclectic region to appreciate the spectacular natural treasures gracing its terrain.

Climb up and down the area’s mountain paths and rest your feet in the warm waters of the Sanbangsan Mountain Tansan Hot Springs. The complex has open-air baths and a Korean sauna. Bring a swimsuit or rent one at the site, which claims to be the first public hot spring on Jeju Island.

Hike south toward the peak of scenic Songaksan Mountain and reach its large crater. The mountain played a role in Japan’s defense from a Chinese invasion at the end of World War II.

On a warm, sunny day, sunbathe on Hwasun Golden Sand Beach. Travel south from here to the Yongmeori Coast, known for its unusual cliff formations and stunning views of the South Sea.

The region has several sites celebrating the sweeter aspects of life. Visit the Chocolate Museum for a flurry of facts about the cacao-filled product in a castle-like building. Kids will love the Christmas Room, where the festive season lasts year round.

Head to the Osulloc Tea Museum to learn about Korea’s history and customs related to tea. The site includes a store and a gallery of teacups from around the world.

Accompany your little ones to the exceptional Jeju Glass Castle, a theme park filled with illuminated glass models. Make your way through a labyrinth composed entirely of glass and marvel at one of the world’s largest glass balls.

Andeok lies in the southwestern corner of Jeju Island, a little south of mainland South Korea. Ride a bus from the town of Jeju to the Andeok Valley bus station and travel around the area by taxi. While you’re here, consider visiting nearby districts such as Seogwipo, Seongsan and Hallasan National Park.
