9/10 Wonderful! (652 reviews)
The staff at Knockranny House Hotel & Spa were among the most attentive and helpful we've come across in all our travels — genuinely can't fault them. Service in the dining room was superb and the food was fantastic. We'd highlight the evening meal deal at €59pp: a bread course, amuse-bouche, three courses, and tea/coffee. Outstanding value, and some of the best food we've eaten anywhere in Ireland.
We were also there for a wedding, and the venue handled the day brilliantly — large, spacious, and well set up for the occasion. Only note is that drinks prices can run a little on the pricey side.
The rooms are lovely and spacious with everything you need, and housekeeping was excellent throughout.
A few things to flag. The spa pool was quite cold, and there's a persistent hissing noise while you're in it that's the opposite of relaxing. Some spa facilities were also out of order during our stay, so if you're booking specifically for a spa weekend, it might be worth holding off for now.
We also noticed a visible crack in the ceiling above the shower, with the roof almost bowing. By the morning of our departure the crack had grown to a concerning level, and we informed management immediately.
The price was on the pricier end, which was the main drawback — a bit disappointing given the spa wasn't fully functional during our stay. Overall, though, a hotel with genuinely brilliant staff, food, and rooms, and we'd happily return once the spa and that maintenance issue are sorted.
