Cozy Lakefront Chalet: Where Memories Are Made

Located on beautiful Potato Lake, this getaway is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Northwoods. This cabin has all of the beloved rustic features, with the conveniences of home. The open concept Cozy Chalet is centrally located between Hayward and Spooner and two hours away from the Twin Cities. No Pets/No Parties. Max 6 guests

Snowmobile and ATV trails accessible from our lake. Great ice fishing! We are minutes from the Nordic Woods Ski Trail and Wildcat Mountain Biking Trails! Come see why life is better at the lake - year round!

The Space

The chalet has a wall of windows facing the lake, with tons of natural light. Guests will love the open concept great room, with a wood burning stove, that leads out to an oversized lakeside deck. Imagine sitting in a rocking chair, drinking your morning coffee and listening to the birds. It's a perfect space for lounging, grilling and dining. We have a gas grill, four rockers and a large dining table with an umbrella on the deck to enjoy. Spend your days and evenings gathered with your friends and family in the screened in porch.

On the lower level there is the main bedroom with a brand new king-sized bed and another bedroom with a full over full size bunk bed. The third bedroom is in the loft that offers a brand new comfy queen and two twin size beds. The cabin is fully furnished and well stocked to meet your needs during your stay. You will love the freestanding woodstove for the cool nights.

The elevation is low to the waterfront (no big stairways to the lake), and the property's edge runs along the creek for privacy and seclusion. There are two fire pits. One near the cabin, and the other down by shore.

Potato Lake is a 224 acre, spring fed lake. It is large enough to legally ski on. This explains the weekend jet-skiers, tubing and activity on the lake. For the most part, Potato Lake is a quiet fishing lake, with plenty of pontoon boats and kayaks.

Generally speaking, the depth is 6-12 feet with a 30' bowl that is straight out from from our cabin. This is the best fishing spot!
Potato Lake fishing is excellent and includes Bass, Northern Pike and Panfish year round.

Welcome to the Northwoods! If you love wildlife, you will be in heaven here! We have plenty of deer, bears, chipmunks, snakes, turtles, birds, rabbits, foxes, raccoons, eagles, loons, geese, trumpet swans, fish, dragonflies, and the less popular gnats and mosquitos.

We love the solitude the property affords, with Potato Creek as the boarder to the north. We are on a private dead end road. The cabin is nestled in the trees and although we have a cabin to the left of our property, it really feels like a private retreat.

This four season cabin is wonderful in the fall and winter too. You can enjoy ATV/snowmobile trails, beautiful foilage, hiking trails, biking, fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.

Looking for a place to stay during the Cranberry Festival or Birkebiner? Planning a fishing, ATV or snowmobile trip? Do you like to golf? You have found your spot.

Several breweries, restaurants, bars, golf courses, grocery stores, bait shops, boat rentals and family activities in the area!

Tammy was an excellent host !
We have rented through VRBO in the past. NO, where we have stayed was this clean, kitchen had all cooking utensils, grill was filled with propane, bathrooms, exceptionally clean, wood burning fireplace made evenings very peaceful and tranquil, also made the Cabernet Sauvignon taste that much better. Thank you, Rich

Girls weekend!
This cabin was beautiful and well maintained. All the rooms were very clean and both kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked. Lots of games and cozy places to have great conversations or enjoy a good book. The deck and screened porch were our favorites. The surrounding area offered lots of fun events and cute shops. Thanks so much for creating this great memory for us!

Spooner Area Lake Stay
Everything was great! Plenty of space, cookware, indoor and outdoor fun. Property was magical. Lots of wildlife and lush green woods. Perfectly quiet and private. The boys rented a boat and did some fishing, lots of pan fish and some bass for a great meal. Girls went to a beach about 20 minutes away for some fun in the sand. Owner was easy to communicate with and always helpful. We'll be back, if the place is not booked from here on out!

Perfect mix of lake cabin charm and creature comforts
If you’re seeking a stay-at-the-lake cabin retreat experience with enough amenities to make it feel as comfortable as home, this is the place for you. Any good relationship starts with good communication. It’s not overrated! Tammy provided top-notch communication from the very start. Any question, wonder or concern we had she answered very promptly and clearly. The cabin is as aesthetically pleasing in person as all the pictures make it look. It floods with natural light as the sun filters through the trees. Virtually all the modern features you could need for your stay are here. They have a large selection of games and books at your disposal to help enhance the downtime. They also offer quite a few fun options for outdoor games. Open the windows for the fresh air and ideal deep-woods soundscape. Most people wouldn’t notice either way, but since I have sensitive hearing, the soft close cabinets and drawers were greatly appreciated! We added their pontoon to our stay at a reasonable cost, and it’s an excellent boat. It’s extremely comfortable and so easy to use. They even included a super simple fish/depth finder which proved most helpful in navigating the lake as well as finding the fish. The longer you stay, the better the fishing should be as you figure it out. We caught numerous (smaller) northern, catfish, lots of bluegill and bass (one topping out at over 17”). There are supposed to be big crappie in there as well. A very pleasant surprise for us was how active the eagles are on the lake! Every day we would watch them soar high and low and frequently they would swoop down to catch fish. The loons were active the whole time as well. No lack of wildlife out there! Things to do away from the cabin are well represented in their Cozy Chalet book complete with maps, guides and suggestions. We hiked and rode bikes, but our favorite was the Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary with a nice hike of about 3 miles. We even met some neighbors who were extremely nice and friendly. There is more to do than you can imagine here, but the best part is that you can also do nothing and really enjoy it. Have no reservations about making your reservation with the Koerpels!
