The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't curbed our passion for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle the new challenges of traveling:

• Know what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check government advisories before booking.
• When you pass through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to briefly lower it for ID purposes. Passengers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it directly on the scanner yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will have to be removed from your bag for scanning.
• Empty your personal items from your pocket, like your wallet, keys and phone, and place them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• Separate any food you have for screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.
