"We stayed in the island lodge. The lodge itself is very nice, only downpoint of the actual lodge is lack of storage space in the kitchen. My biggest complaints about this place were 1. When making the booking it NEVER mentioned that the only way to access your lodge is via a small rowing boat. I kid you not. "We have been coming here every year since they first opened. It is in the mall so anything you could possibly need, you can get without even going outdoors. However, Utrecht is a wonderful city with fabulous restaurants and very walkable. The mall is directly next to the Central Train station so we got a Chipkart (debit card for the transit system) the first year and have reloaded as needed. You can take all forms of transportation with it by tapping in when you enter and tapping out as you leave. So convenient and time saving. From Utrecht you can easily travel anywhere in the Netherlands by public transportation. I recommend you do not rent a car. Walk and use the public transportation and you will see so much more and avoid having to pay for expensive parking wherever you go."
