Place is always amazing, try and stay every couple of months.

The room was lovely and spacious with a very large bathroom. The breakfast was not what you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The selection was terrible - donuts and butter tarts are not appealing at breakfast. The staff was not good at refilling - they even ran out of regular coffee and by the time they brought the coffee they had run out of cups. There was no dining room for breakfast. Guests had to sit on sofas and living room chairs in the reception room and eat from coffee tables which was not comfortable at all. The reception staff member on duty when we checked out around 10:00 am on September 11 was not friendly or hospitable.

Staff members were all very polite and friendly. Property was clean top to bottom, and rooms were all very spacious

Beautiful old hotel in a perfect central location - easily walkable to the Halifax boardwalk, sights and restaurants and shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable, other than the fact that it was freezing cold the entire time we were there (one night). There is a beautiful ground floor lounge with comfortable leather and other easy chairs where we spent a couple of hours each afternoon before dinner reading and enjoying a drink. We were fortunate to get a parking space in their limited lot behind the hotel, and there is a loading zone right in front of the door for bringing your luggage in and out easily. We didn't avail ourselves of their box breakfast in the a.m. though it sounds like it is pretty good. There are numerous breakfast choices within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again, and highly recommend!
