Take a stroll through the charming, medieval and completely rectangular town, which was founded around 1240 by Louis IX the Saint as a port city with a strictly military layout. The walls, town plan and road network are still intact and make Aigues-Mortes an exquisite tourist destination. The fortified town is located in the middle of a marshland and thus offers culture and nature at the same time. From here, you have the opportunity to experience the Camargue and its beautiful landscape. In addition to Arles and Montpellier, visit Nîmes with its Roman arenas. The region is rich in cultural and natural treasures, characterized by the enchanting Mediterranean coast and many hours of sunshine. The beaches of Le Grau du Roi are also not far away.
