This was my first visit and I wasn't aware of all the attached buildings like the party store with huge display of alcoholic drinks and many many choices for foods at a counter or vending machines. There is no hotel lobby and the check in counter is displayed among a counter for the general facility. The only reason I didn't mark excellent is that there was no outside sign among a number of doors to show entrance to motel. There was a huge sign with an arrow and word Diesel plus other doors marked party store or other names. Once inside no problem but it was a great mystery where to enter plus the huge building looks like a wide large castle. No complaints otherwise. Very reasonable price and for me within 20 minutes to Waterloo Amtrak station

We stayed for one night with smaller kids. We didn’t have a shower curtain upon arrival but the front office was quick to get us one. The pool water was freezing. The staff said they turned the heater on but by the time we left it was still cold. Floors were a little dirty in the room, ice machine was down, bed was comfortable, and breakfast was decent! We would stay here again and maybe call before to have the pool heater turned on prior to the stay.

Apartment was clean, bathtub was dated and filled up with water when showering, no towels or wash cloths were left, had to buy my own.

I stayed in the McCulloch Suite in the Sion Bass House (one of the two adjacent historic homes which make up this property). The suite was very spacious and clean. The check-in instructions which were emailed the day of check-in were very clear. There was a folding ironing board, iron, lots of extra towels, literature related to the history of the property and the city (for anyone who might be interested). The little garden surrounding the building and the deck in back both were very nice. I last stayed at this property 16 years ago (when it was under different management) and it was very nice on both visits.
