Kawasan Falls is a stunning three-part set of cascades in the midst of jungle terrain. The water rolls over mossy rocks into a milky aquamarine basin, great for calm swimming. Stand beneath the falling chute for a pleasant shower and natural water massage in these scenic surroundings.
Trek along the path that follows the Kawasan River as it curves through the jungle on its way to the lagoon. Cross charming bridges and appreciate the spectacular terrain of this tropical region. See the small hydroelectric power plant en route and wave at locals bathing in the running water. The vivid blue-green hues of the placid lagoon greet you at the feet of the cascades.
Gather with friends on the raft made of bamboo sticks floating just over the water. Jump from the raft into the deep water and swim toward the falls. Admire the view and the sound of the roaring water.
Enjoy a picnic on one of the wooden benches and tables and watch your kids playing in the water. Drink from a coconut you can purchase from vendors. Then cut it up to eat the pulp. Dine at one of the restaurants and peruse the items available at the small shops and vendor stalls.
Find your own secluded and placid lagoon away from the buzz of the huts and sellers. Trails connect the main lagoon to the second and third parts of the waterfall. Note that the water sprouts from natural springs in the mountains.
Pay fees to rent life jackets and use the tables and raft. Swimming in the river is free and it is open to the public at all times.
The path to Kawasan Falls is about a 30-minute drive south of Badian on the southwestern flank of Cebu. Drive south from Moalboal for about 40 minutes to get here. Visit nearby attractions, such as Badian Bay. Bring swimwear, food and water and good walking shoes for your pleasant day along a spring-fed river in the jungle.
