You can tell she tries hard to keep the building in running order. I gave the place a 4 but only because of the age of the building. Overall this was a pleasant stay"

"Big Horse Inn is a hidden gem in this part of Illinois. It is perfectly located, close to Dickson Mounds (great hiking trails), Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge, and the Illinois/Spoon River area. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Self check-in could not have been easier. Don't miss the attached Black Maple coffee shop for delicious breakfast and lunch options (and coffee, of course). The inn is within easy walking distance of a traditional small-town diner, Casey's, and Dairy Queen, so plenty of options for any dining budget!"

"The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was clean and it was very quiet. The bed was ok, the mattress was a little on the hard side but not bad. I would stay here again if I’m ever in Jacksonville. "
