The staff at Villa Maia are exceptional. Always kind and smiling, helpful and attentive. They made a wonderful stay truly exceptional. The room was delightful. We were on the second floor with has a partial view of the city due to the large trees outside the window. A third floor stay would have unobstructed views. The pool and spa are excellent.

Best hotel I've ever stayed in! Fabulous!

The only reason I gave this hotel 4 instead of 5 stars is the room layout. Otherwise, the hotel is exceptional. The property is beautiful, the staff is outstanding, and our stay was wonderful. We stayed in a Premier Room with stunning Matterhorn views. It was immaculate and featured dual sinks, a separate toilet, a soaking tub, steam shower, and sauna. The layout, however, could be improved. The vanity has very little counter space because the raised sinks occupy most of it. The soaking tub, located at the foot of the bed, prevents the balcony door from opening fully and blocks access to the steam shower and sauna when open. The desk is too close to the bed, so if someone is seated there, it's difficult to reach the closet or room entrance. We also noticed that sound insulation seemed limited, as hallway and neighboring room noise was easily heard. Despite these issues, this is a beautiful hotel with exceptional service. Better room functionality and soundproofing would make it an easy 5-star stay.

Excellent 5 star property and service.

We stayed Grand Hotel du Lac in May and enjoyed the best of Swiss hospitality. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, every member of the team made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for. The breakfast staff were wonderful, taking the time to describe the artisan breads and ensuring there was always a fresh platter of fruit available. The waiters and sommelier took their time to take us on a culinary menu exploration to help with our choice. The valet remembered our names, which made our stay feel even more personal and the reception staff were most welcoming. The chambermaids were excellent, providing a lovely evening turndown service that added a touch of luxury each day and making sure we have our chocolates. The hotel is a very special and charming place, where impeccable service is matched only by its breathtaking setting. Waking up to the stunning views over Lake Geneva and the Alps was truly unforgettable and a room with a view is highly recommended.  This is one of those rare hotels that feels like a home away from home and will hold a special place in my heart. We can already see ourselves returning year after year. Thank you to everyone at the Grand Hotel du Lac for making our stay so memorable.
