7. Theatre Vorpommern in Stralsund

Though constructed relatively recently in 1914, the Theatre Vorpommern in Stralsund builds on a grand tradition of theater in the city that goes all the way back to the 16th century. Performances once took place in the Neumarkt. The new art nouveau theater was built because of the institution of modern fire codes, which meant that the old theater was unusable. Theatre Vorpommern now forms part of a trio of theaters from the region that collaborate to create a packed cultural calendar. Watch opera or theater at this spot, one of the best on the Hanseatic coast.
