Rustic vacation get-away. Tranquil four-bedroom, 2-bath cottage on Lake Candlewood. Lovely blue-stone patio at the water with spectacular views of lake. Western exposure. Oversized dock for swimming. Large screened porch with dining and sitting area. Play yard off porch. One-acre wooded lot with driveway to house. Located in quiet Lattins Cove in no-wake zone. Peaceful country feeling, but 5 minutes to stores, restaurants and I-84.
This house was built by my grandfather and my father and uncle during the Great Depression. My grandfather had the foresight to buy land on Lake Candlewood as the lake was being created. (Candlewood is the largest man-made lake in Connecticut, with 92 miles of shoreline.) The property has been the heart and soul of our family since it was built. Countless family gatherings have taken place here with great love and laughter. We are renting it for a few weeks each summer to help pay for the ever-increasing property taxes.
Please note that this is a rustic, traditional lake cottage, not a new-construction investment house. The house offers many wonderful features for those who love to be at a lake during the summer. It is not for everyone, however. The house was built in the 1930s, and while we have updated many aspects of it, it is still a nearly one-hundred year old house, with its quirks that require a degree of patience. We'd love to have you enjoy this lovely spot, with this knowledge of our home.
