Book a hotel in Altstadt, the historic center, on the western side of the River Elbe, to explore some of the city's most iconic attractions, including the stunning domed church of Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). History lovers should also consider lodgings in Outer Neustadt (Äußere Neustadt), or New Town, on the other side of the river, famous for its baroque-style architecture. Some of the area's attractions include the 18th-century Japanisches Palais and the statue of the Golden Horseman. For those who don't need to be in the heart of the city center action, hotels in the Loschwitz neighborhood may be an option. Accommodations here are close to the famous palaces of Lingnerschloss, Albrechtsberg, and Eckberg.

Hotels in Blasewitz and Striesen put nature lovers close to a riverside promenade perfect for leisurely walks. A stroll along Loschwitz Bridge leads to neighboring Loschwitz. Accommodations here are great for being near the world's oldest overhead railway and three stately palaces that overlook the River Elbe. Those who don't mind staying farther afield should consider booking a hotel in Hellerau. Just south of the airport, this neighborhood is known as Dresden's garden city. Its design has inspired numerous other urban development schemes.
