Our stay at Sunset Serenity was perfection! Martha and Donald are the quintessential hosts - we felt supported and looked after, but never felt we didn't have the privacy we wanted. The property was well cared for and provided a welcome escape for my kids to run and play after long days of sightseeing. Enjoying smores by the firepit as the sun sets is a must-do! You simply cannot stay stressed out here - I highly recommend you stop in for a stay!

Wonderful home and host
We just loved Martha and Donnie’s guest home. It is a tranquil place with beautiful views. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. They go above and beyond with special little touches that made for a wonderful trip. My husband forgot his phone charger, they had a box on the wall full of every kind you could need and common cords already plugged in by the beds. There was a box of beanie babies for children to take one and keep. Besides ceiling fans they had a really assume fan on the wall that was prefect. There was coffee, paper products like plates, utensils, towels, toiletries and smores for the fire put. They also had those large ice packs in the freezer for us to use so we didn’t need to buy ice when we went out for our cooler. One of the most unique features was vent covers, I get a little cold in AC but my husband likes it cold so these were a wonderful addition so i could keep the AC from freezing me when I took a bath but keep the rest of the house cool for him. Trust me you will not have a problem keeping cool, the AC works great. As for Martha and Donnie, you won’t find more sweet people. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and be social. If we wanted privacy they gave it. If you wanted to set and talk you will not find better conversation than sitting on their front porch with Donnie sipping coffee or for us it was beer and bourbon. When we go the Kentucky we will stay with them, it’s prefect for 2. But it would be great for a small family.

Great property in the peaceful, quiet country but just a few miles to town. Very relaxing to ‘come home to’ each night after visiting the ark and other attractions. Hosts were very kind; gave us our space and yet available if needed. Lots of activities at the home; including painting rocks, swimming pool, games, toys, puzzles, hammocks, corn hole, s’mores basket, fire pit and more. I would note the short road to the property is one lane but is a dead end so not much traffic.

This is a well kept property that is so inviting. There is a fire pit and s’mores supplies, a pool that’s clean and cool. So inviting. The owners are very nice and respected our privacy. I would go back here. Even the beds were comfortable!

The property was under some construction while we were there. Owners were on site which inhibits some privacy, but they did their best to stay out of our way. Very friendly couple. Might make it part of the listing that they will be on the property for couples seeking a romantic weekend. Overall beautiful property and location. The pool was great!

Relaxing family vacation
This place was great for me and my daughter and her best friend (12 and 11 years old) for a 2 day vacation. We came to the area for The Ark Experience, but this place is the reason we will come back. Martha and Donnie have a peaceful, country home with a great pool that allowed me to unwind and the girls to wear themselves out in the pool. The beds were comfortable and the place had everything you need to have a fun time - even included ingredients for a firepit & s'mores! They are wonderfully welcoming and kind people who have a very nice place to stay in the country. Their hospitality and warmth really made this vacation a great time for me and the kiddos. Thank you for everything!!

Beautiful Family Friendly Country Getaway
We couldn't be happier with our stay. Donnie and Martha went out of there way to show hospitality, freshened up the pool a bit preseason, provided all the stuff for smores around the fire, took our kids for ride in the side-by-side and also gave them a few toys, and sat with us around the fire and chatted for a bit on our last evening there. We were there 4 days for home school conf at Ark/Creation Musem, it was a nice getaway in beautiful setting at the end of each bustling day. Thanks Donnie and Martha!

The owners were accommodating and did a good job of helping our child enjoy his visit via the toys available for use, as well as the time we spent in the pool. We did not spend a lot of time in the room as we were out sight seeing. If you are planning on staying primarily instead of tourism the outdoor area is very nice and enjoyable. The scenery is beautiful . It’s overall basic and meets your needs but that was exactly what we needed. I would go back again, my only recommendation would be to maybe update the bathroom a little bit as it needs some tlc. Fresh towels and supplies readily available was very convenient.

This place was awesome! It’s a small apt connected to owner’s home. It’s out away from town, but very convenient to everything! We went to creation museum, Arc, and Cincinnati baseball game. It’s 90 min drive to Air force museum in Dayton, OH, so we took a short detour on the way home to see it. Our grandsons swam every night after long days at our activities. I highly recommend!

My children did not want to leave! The owners provide sweet extras for the kids and made our stay delightful. Such a quiet and relaxing location with a nice pool, games, and kind and thoughtful owners. It's close to I-75 with many opportunities for fun in Cincinnati and Lexington, and of course, it's a quick trip to The Ark Encounter. Highly recommend!!

Property was clean and in a quiet location off the beaten path. Don & Martha live on site and were very friendly and courteous. The large bedroom also serves as a living room which we didn't realize until we got there. It wasn't a huge issue since our days were jam-packed with activities and sight-seeing.

4 night stay near Ark Encounter
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. We really loved the backyard and the way he had it set up with things to do for kids and it was just a beautiful green lush lawn. The room was everything it was supposed to be with the full kitchen and full bath and two beds plus a hideaway bed. Communication was good with the owner and they stayed in touch with us throughout the week. We will definitely come back

Place is in a nice quiet location yet still close to the main stores & some resturants. Very clean & the owners are excellent & very responsive. Wonderful outdoors area & well maintained. The inside is a little small but perfect for 2 or 3 people. Would definitely stay here again.

Best unit we have used
The location was ideal for our visit to the Ark and the Creation Museum. Restaurants and grocery stores were within a few miles. Martha and Donnie were very responsive to any need we had and treated us as friends from the first meeting. The unit was located in a wonderful country location, far away from any noise and light pollution. The unit was all that we could have asked for , making our trip enjoyable and carefree. Highly recommend this unit, far exceeds any hotel in the area.

Granddaughters Secret Trip
Martha and Donnie were wonderful hosts! We had the great pleasure meeting both of them and both are so personable and kind. We had a delightful time relaxing around the fire as our granddaughter made s'mores. Each year we take our granddaughter on a secret trip and we wanted to find a place near The Ark Encounter. We are so thankful God directed us to their cute home. It was just the perfect size for us. We slept great on the comfortable beds and the property was very neat and clean! They have every amenity you might need! My husband was so happy because they had a coffee pot and even supplied the coffee and the sugar. If you enjoy quiet and peace, Martha and Donnie's place is for you. Thanks for being part of our secret trip memories.

We were so happy that we found this little piece of heaven. We were heading to the Ark Encounter and trying to find a place to stay for a few days close to the Ark. This is a perfect location and the "hosts" were fantastic. We truly felt blessed to have found this guest house to stay in. Nice quiet location but close to restaurants, super market and gas stations.

Review Martha and Donnie were fantastic hosts!! We had our first annual girls weekend at their home. We had the entire beautiful property to enjoy. The view was wonderful and it was super quiet. For us city girls we got to actually see the stars. They have a pool, deck, porch swing, kids swing, some hammocks, and a fire pit. Inside it was a one bedroom with a queen bed, a single bed, and an extra bed in the closet we set up. There were 4 of us who were able to enjoy our trip. Beyond the beautiful property, the service and the little touches were the highlight of the stay. Martha and Donnie were so kind! They each did come out and greet us. They made an effort to learn our names and get to know us a little. However, we were still able to enjoy our stay. They had a welcome basket with a fire starter, s’mores supplies, bug spray and other things we may need. They provided clean sheets and towels. They had pool toys to enjoy and even checkers at the pool. They had a hair dryer in the bathroom, pots and pans, paper products, sun screen. One of the best and most thoughtful things was Martha dropped off a birthday cake for us since we were all celebrating turning 50. We would highly recommend this property for anyone wishing to visit the area. The Ark Encounter isn’t far away at all and there is so much more to do. You should certainly visit Martha and Donnie on your trip!
