"Beautiful setting in the middle of nature with great variety if wildlife and activities on premises. Not quiet, as at night all animals come alive, but for us the jungle noises and rain were super relaxing. Excellent service and food. Ownership truly cares about the environment and growing this ecosystem. Fantastic! One of a kind!"
"You don't stay in Arenal for the area around the B&Bs. You go to Arenal because it's funky and quiet and friendly . We return to Casa Donna Rosa for the welcoming owners and most of all for the fantastic breakfast preparations. I have only been gone one day and I miss their breakfasts already. Home baked Challah in think hunks with baked crisp finish the their french toast...yumm even before you try adding the smear of preserves. Great Costa Rican coffee is served with pots of wam milk. "
Simply the best, incredible views, pool, delicious food and a friend in the area.
10/10 Excellent
"We had a wonderful time at The Red Sunset of Guanacaste! The house is amazing, the views are spectacular and the host, Patrick, was so so helpful! And we can’t say enough about the wonderful delicious healthy breakfasts that Lisa and Mar made every day. Each day Patrick helped with our plans , sometimes arranging in advance. He also had terrific recommendations for dinner, we all loved the evening at Gingerbread Restaurant, a superb dining experience. Can not say enough good things , thank you Patrick!"
"My stay at Destino Hotel was an absolute dream. The views were absolutely stunning, and the entire design of the property was gorgeous. It truly felt like paradise. Orlando was the best host, so warm and accommodating, making sure every detail of my stay was perfect. The hot springs were incredibly relaxing and a highlight of the experience. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I’ll definitely be back!

"Absolutely gorgeous property with an amazing wrap-around porch and spectacular views. I was not expecting the winding drive around Lake Arenal, if you get motion sickness come prepared. Easy access to Tilaran where you can get everything you need, cool little butcher and mini-market down the road to supply your stay if you dont want to drive into Tilaran. The house had a few hornets nests that once we notified the property manager they sent someone to take care of them immediately. The only issue we had with the property was the freezer wasnt freezing and the description of the properties location was a little off- it was actually on the left side of the road but still the 4th property in the complex. Made for an excellent base of operations for waterfall exploration, hotsprings soaking, and stimulating the local economy with tourism . Would definitely stay here again."
"I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order breakfast. Finally, if you're a gym rat like me, there's a gym that's $5/day to drop in that's a 3 minute walk from Kakao Lodge. We were also fortunate enough to be there while the owner, Laura, was there. Her and her husband are delightful people if you're lucky enough to get to meet them as well.
If you want to experience the rainforest of Costa Rica while still having a comfy bed to go back to at night, I can't say enough for staying here. "
