Port city par excellence with its four ports, the White City captivates all those who lay their eyes on the white stone bathed in sunlight in which the buildings are built. The ocean, omnipresent, imposes itself as the symbol of the city, sweeping the nostrils of visitors from its spray. The old stones also have their say in this landscape bordered by the Atlantic Ocean where alternates low coasts, sheer cliffs and sandy shores. Not far from the shore, the islands of Ré, Oléron and Aix form a natural barrier preventing the swell of the ocean to disturb the calm of the millennial city.
