Low tide at Le Hourdel. Le Hourdel is a small hamlet, located on a narrow headland on the south side of the Bay of the Somme. It has a small harbour for fishing boats and pleasure boats. Le Hourdel is part of the commune of Cayeux-sur-Mer and is located about 10 km from Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, one of my favourite coastal villages in the north of France. The Bay of the Somme is home to the largest seal population in France. At low tide the water in the bay recedes as much as 14 km!
