Amazing peaceful scenic family time

We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the spacious kitchen area for having breakfast before heading out for the day and cooking meals and after dinner the family time around the campfire in the evening, During the day we visited the surrounding areas for shopping, scenic views snd festivities close by! We all had an amazing time at the cabin with the bonus of listening to the the waterfalls! Loved our stay!!!

Family Getaway

This property is in a beautiful mountain location with lots of room for a family of seven. We felt safe and were appreciative of a quick response when we had some problems in the kitchen. The children enjoyed fishing in the pond, and the large kitchen and table made meals easy to do.

Incredible cabin on a beautiful mountain! Perfect for a weekend getaway. The cabin is huge and the amenities are awesome (hot tub, fully stocked kitchen, firepits etc). Hiking around the property is great as well. Would definitely plan another trip here.

Great place

The location and property were great and we would stay there again. Just need to make sure people can get in and out due to the lock on bottom floor not working however our host answered the phone immediately and was helpful. We would stay there again and recommend it to anyone.

Cozy and quiet

This lodge is huge! Everything about this place says wood lodge. Too many positive things to say! So in short, the things we noticed, The home is not that far off the main road, so pay attention not to drive by because it’s very hard to turn around, has two separate driveways, Home is clean. Outdoors was very quiet, you can walk up to the other pond and go fishing. Waterfall lodge is definitely on the list to go back to visit.

Beautiful home in th woids

The house used for an impromptu family reunion. Plenty of room to accommodate my family. Very private and serene. The hosts were very accommodating, and made sure our stay was flawless, which it was. I wouldn’t hesitate renting this property again on future trips to the area😁

We had a wonderful visit to Memory Mountain! The property was beautiful, the accommodations were nice, Steve Powell gave an excellent tour of his private barn, and Lobo, the wolf, was a huge hit! We had a very special, joyful, and memorable wedding!

Desperately needed quality family time!!

Waterfall cabin was totally serenity..., from the cabin, to the location, to the scenery. It was a perfect family get away for my son’s birthday. Some days we just enjoyed relaxing at the beautiful house (fishing, cooking, playing games) and other days we ventured into Asheville. Steve & Joy are lovely!!

Gorgeous home and comfy stay!

We came up to serve the families of WNC who were affected by the storm. This property was great in location to access centrally from Asheville to Spruce Pine. It’s a gorgeous place inside and out. We were very surprised by the spacious rooms and porch areas. We had children from 3 to 16 and they enjoyed the bunk beds, backyard area and “secret” loft. We will definitely plan another trip to this home soon! I can only imagine how amazing it will be covered in snow. Only last minute surprise was the very steep driveway and the sign for the back entrance was hard to find. With a large truck and trailer this made turning around very difficult but other than that everything was perfect! A real 10/10 stay!

Amazing stay for large groups!

We had an absolute blast staying at Rachel & Sam's beautiful home in the mountains. It was the perfect location for my group of 15 friends. The house has plenty of room and beds which made sleeping arrangements easy to coordinate. The private pond and fire pit were perfect for hanging out and playing games outside. It is in a great, quiet location up in the mountains which was perfect for our group to reconnect and enjoy each other's company. We had so much fun and I would absolutely recommend Rachel & Sam's house for anyone looking for a fun, group getaway in the mountains near Asheville!

Perfect cabin for large group, beautiful land, great location

The cabin was spacious for 5 adults and 4 kids. More than large enough for 4 - 5 people. The location was great: between two tubing locations and 5 minutes to Wolf Ridge Ski Resort. The land was amazing. This cabin was on its own pond, between TWO man made waterfalls and THREE more waterfalls were in walking distance. The rustic chapel and antique buildings on the property are also worth walking to. Steve, the owner, is a great guy and was genuinely kind to us. He is very responsive.

Fantastic Christmas Family Weekend

We stayed on Memory Mountain to enjoy the amazing setting Steve and his family have created. From the ponds, to the waterfalls, to the chapel and outdoor areas, we couldn’t have asked for a better location and host. He went above and beyond to make sure our family was comfortable and he made an extraordinary effort to make it special for 6-boys under the age of 7...Steve arranged for a special visit from his “close friend” Santa Clause, who even brought gifts for the boys. We had 6 adults and 6 children, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. We will certainly consider going back for another trip.

Excellent property with even better owners!

Never would have thought our stay would be this good. Steve and family made it their priority that we had a good time from the first day. From giving us locations to visit/hike to taking us friends and our kids in the back of their UTV to check out their entire property to showing up with a 6-pack of local beers, they truly made the trip special for all of us. This is our 4th trip overall to Smoky/Blue Ridge area and this is the only time I ever even talked to the owner.. let alone meet them multiple times. Since they live right there, they actually knew the area and gave us locations which can be visited with our kids as well as just adults. In short: Great cabin, geniunly good family who actually cares for their visitors.

Great Family Vacation!!

Waterfall cabin is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped for a family vacation that included 3 generations. This was our best family vacation thanks to Steve's hospitality and beautiful property. There are many different areas in the home to play games, read, paint, or nap. We enjoyed meeting Lobo the wolf, having campfires, and relaxing in the hot tub. TV was not turned on once during our week here. Lots of time was spent fishing in the stocked ponds, relaxing on the porches, and hiking on the property to enjoy the panorama of God's creation. It would be impossible to stay here and not recognize the loving, majestic presence of our creator. This location is far away from city life, yet close enough to make day trips to lakes, waterfalls, and mountains.

A piece of Heaven here on earth

AMAZING PLACE TO STAY! Every other year we have a sibling reunion, as we come from all over the USA. ( NC,SC,NY,CO,CA,AZ,TN) This year we found the Waterfall Lodge on Memory Mountain in Mars Hill, NC. What an absolutely amazing place. The property owner Steve Powell was extremely kind and helpful before, during, and after our trip. He gave us a tour of the property, which was breathtaking. There were 13 adults staying at Waterfall Lodge, and it had everything we needed from beginning to end. We enjoyed fishing in the ponds, feeding the ducks, hiking, and gathering around the firepit for coffee in the mornings. Myself as well as my 7 siblings and their spouses were extremely satisfied with our stay. We highly recommend staying at Waterfall Lodge, and look very forward to returning here again for future reunions. Its a special place, and you can absolutely feel the presence of God as you explore the property. Thanks so much to the Powells for sharing their little piece of Heaven on earth with us, we were truly blessed by our visit!

Great Family Memories Made at Memory Mountain

What a great experience! All the previous 5-star reviews are to be believed. My family had the best time possible at Steve and Joy's place. We officially unplugged from the world and simply enjoyed each others company in a perfectly rustic setting. We hiked, we fished, we sat around campfires until late at night and just talked. What a special gift in today's world. Beyond all that we found the most hospitable owners you could ever hope to encounter. Steve and Joy went above and beyond to make our time at Memory Mountain a wonderful experience. Steve spent several hours with me touring the property, giving me the history of its many buildings and sharing the inspirational story of his son's life. I enjoyed every minute of it. He even gave me, my son in law and grandson a tour of his museum. Some of his Native American artifacts are museum quality and simply fascinating to see. He made my grandson a gift of one of his many arrowheads and I'm sure it will be cherished for many, many years to come. Steve has a gift of making you feel like you've known him for years and I left feeIing I have a new friend for life. I highly recommend this property to any and all and know we will be back. Steve & Joy- Thank you again for your generosity, hospitality and Christian nature. What a gift you gave us. God Bless. -Greg Pearce & Family.

Wonderful, magical stay. We were surrounded by woods, wildflowers, and waterfalls and enjoyed comfy indoor and outdoor spaces. The variety of bedrooms/ beds easily accommodated our group of assorted ages and connections. Great kitchen, with plenty storage and made for cooking. The fire pit area next to the water was perfect for gathering to visit, enjoy s’mores and breathe deeply. For our group, the Waterfall Lodge was a great value and exceeded expectations!
