Very friendly staff at the reception at Check-In. The rooms were nice and clean. The hotel was set in lovely surroundings, and the swimming pool & spa were excellent. Dining at the Waterside restaurant was excellent. The only thing that let the room down was the extractor fan was not working in the bathroom.

My wife and I were almost killed by a driver directly in front of the entrance after a function by a driver in a red 5 door car. He missed my wife ( on her birthday ) by perhaps 9”.. I reported this immediately to hotel reception staff and the uncaring awful fiasco that followed was incredible ..to call their response useless would be kind .. we are shocked. A person came knocking on our door spouting utter nonsense… he did actually nothing at all and the dangerous driver got away with almost killing us absolutely free … following morning the woman who was apparently managing tye breakfast area was rude , dismissive, obnoxious and unfriendly. Where we were directed to sit was dirty and unkempt … we stay in a lot of hotels worldwide , and this place took the award for one of the worst experiences. Note , I left my phone number with the individual knocking our door late at night re nearly being run over in their car park .. 3 days ago , no call back .. says it all .. shocking …

Beautiful room with balcony and lovely views. Staff were very helpful/ accomodating. Another time I will try the spa (included). I was unaware that breakfast was already included. It was a fantastic breakfast. Will stay again, when working in the area.

At first glance the hotel and property surrounding looks very nice, the main room we were given was freshly refurbished and the bed was great and very comfortable and the staff were pleasant and seemed professional. The only problem seems to be a maintenance schedule not being carried out. Bathroom fitting were old and damaged and the flush on the toilet stuck on, a light was out on the mirror and the shower tap was damaged . The carpets in the main halls were thread bare in places, fountain outside out of order. We went to the pool and again more things not working, half the jets not working in the jacuzzi, lockers that didn’t work , steam room not working and smelled a bit off, ripped seats in the changing room. This place has got real potential but needs a good quality and maintenance schedule set up. It put us off going for food and trying some of the other facilities. It’s a 4 star price but 3 star in most areas.

Lovely relaxing stay, just wish they would take cash, we save our money for little trips away and it’s easier to budget so we don’t over spend just frustrating but other than cash being a dirty word it was a lovely stay and will use again

Location is very nice near the canal and there is good ample parking. Nice level entrance to get around which is good for luggage. The hotel itself could do with some refurbishment as carpets were torn and worn in places. I didn't use the spa facilities so cannot comment on that but there was an air of tiredness about the public areas. The restaurant has a good menu but the tables are really sticky from the spray used to wipe them down. The breakfast had a great selection of items and the staff are reallly lovely and welcoming.

Two Night Trip Excellent Experience
I have stopped at Lion Quays once before. Both occasions were before hospital appointments at the. RJAH orthopedic hospital which is an 8 minute drive so perfect for friends or family. The hotel is great and is great value with free use of the pool and spa.

Staff were super polite, friendly and helpful! The room wasn’t the best however, TV worked but the only thing that worked on it was the radio… you could hear every door slam, conversation and foot steps around you and the complimentary water in the room was sparkling water. The pool was nice but it was cold, the spa was amazing but we found out we wasn’t actually allowed to be in there which was a massive disappointment… overall the hotel is okay but I don’t think we’ll be coming back. Wasn’t worth the money.

It's the little things
Although it's in a beautiful area of the UK, I was pretty disappointed with the hotel, the pumps for shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom didn't work, and there was no conditioner or body lotion (yes first world problems but it purports to be a luxurious hotel). The food in the restaurant was good, although the presentation and service left a lot to be desired, the WiFi was albeit non existent in the bar area for our meeting , which we had to postpone to the next day (3 hours in a Costa coffee shop 10 mins away purely for a reliable connection). However, the absolute outstanding feature were the gym and spa facilities....amazing!

Party going on in the room upstairs until 3am. My ribeye steak was more like a cheap flat iron, nowhere near the £32 i paid for it and then i had no electric in the morning. Not the first time i stayed but not sure if I'll be going back.

Generally good experience just a couple of issues. Lack of bar staff in the main bar when functions are on in other rooms. Being cashless meant my relatives had problems as the hotel is cashless. They wont stay again.
