Mountain Rustic Ski House Tahoe-Reno Mt Rose-Snow Resort 1.5 Miles

We have come Skiing from San Diego, CA to Mt Rose for many years and loved it. So, when we learned of the opportunity to buy this home so close to the Ski Resort, we jumped at it. This is a one of a kind Home hidden in the Mountains above Lake Tahoe off the Mt Rose Hwy 431 with views to Reno, a short distance up an unpaved road about 200 yards from Main Hwy and only 1.5 miles to Mt Rose Ski Area. At about 7600 feet, there it is always nice temperature on the hot Reno Summer Days. Besides being a wonderful vintage home, the views are incredible. Did I say the Views from this home are incredible. Well it is certainly worth mentioning more than once. This house was built in 1950 by the first Ski Area Developer in all the Sierras. We are the proud new owners, and everyone tells us that this is the best built house anywhere around. We love it and want to share it. The first renters said they loved it and felt like they were in a museum. I would not call this a Luxury Home, but a very comfortable place to stay. One really feels at home at our home in the mountains. The Home is located right next to Sky Tavern Ski Area, which the builder of this home also Built. There is so much history for the area and Ski resort. Sky Tavern was the first Ski resort in all of the Sierras. We Love to speak to future guests. During and right after winter storms you may need 4 wheel drive and/or chains to reach our parking. There is parking below about 200 yards near the main highway where you can park and walk up. Our private road is not always cleared regularly after a large snow storm, and many of the people who live on the road ( just 10 houses) leave their cars below by the main highway during large storms. Situated half way between Incline Village, Lake Tahoe and downtown Reno, NV is Sky Tavern. A unique mountain top community that’s surrounded by wilderness and is only 1.5 miles from Mount Rose Ski Area.

Our home is a comfortable and spacious home designed for those looking to enjoy a mountain home with easy access to skiing, hiking, mountain biking or everything Reno and Tahoe have to offer.

The home has a dramatic fireplace in the living room on the main level, along with the kitchen, master bedroom, a full bathroom, and a bedroom with a great Queen platform bed with the newest type memory foam Mattress.

Downstairs, you will find 2 bedrooms & the Den bedroom plus a full Bath Room.
The house is very comfortable but not “fancy”. Its warm and cozy during the winter and is the perfect home base for ski days at Mt Rose or exploring the greater Reno/Tahoe area.

The house is less than 25 minute drive from Reno-Tahoe International Airport and downtown Reno. It’s 20 minutes to Incline Village and Lake Tahoe .

Great place with wonderful views! We stayed three nights skiing Mt. Rose during our stay. Check in was super easy, talked with the owner and had no issues. We were even allowed to check in early. The house was very clean with everything working and items we needed. The house has older furniture, but it was like going back in time, we even played an 8 track for music at night. Very cool and unique property. Curtis who owns the local ski shop just next door helped out with rentals and told us the history of the area. Everyone was super nice!

We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin. The area had gotten a huge amount of snow but Mark was great a communicating beforehand and making sure we could get in safely. The cabin itself was very cozy - nothing fancy but perfect to relax and hang out.

Perfect place for my family and dog to play in the snow. Beautiful views from the house and plenty of space in the driveway to play. It was yards from a ski area and not too far from incline village. The inside was very very clean and so spacious. I hope to stay here next season as well!

Nice rustic cabin
The cabin was fine for us. It's on the older side but I knew that coming in, so I was fine with that. Needed a place that would take small dogs. Only issue is that it snowed so much that I couldn't get my truck, which is a 4x4, in there. Had to wait a day for their guy (Billy) who snowplows for them. Billie did a thorough job of clearing out all the snow. The only caveat is that due to the steep hill, if it's snowing a lot, you better have a 4x4; otherwise you won't be going up the road. Beautiful views and very peaceful there.

We arrived just in time for a massive store that took out power all over Reno. The owner was very good at keeping us posted and we ended up having to cancel our stay and get a rooms in Reno. The owner was helpful and gave us a full refund due to the situation. We have stayed in the past and will return again. The cabin is always clean and the view is amazing. Perfect little retreat!

All the process was painless property owner Mark answered our phone calls checking in and responded back on checking out process. This place is gorgeous yes its old but very accommodating. View is just gorgeous and walking distance to sky tavern ski resort. We had such a good time staying here and will definitely consider renting this place in the future. We cooked our own meals didn't have to bring any utensils or anything else this place has everything plus some. We definitely made some great memories here.

Great spot for families wanting to get away for a couple days.
We stayed at the house to get the kids up in the snow for a couple days. We were able to sled at the nearby ski resort since they were closed M-Tues. It's a great house, very comfortable and clean. Mark, the owner is really great and you can tell he loves the house and wants you to enjoy it as well. The location is great, a bit more chill than the Tahoe side and nearby to various ski areas and grocery stores etc. The house is spacious and isn't fancy or all redone but its very comfortable and clean. It has wifi to keep the kids happy, and everything you need in the kitchen/bathrooms etc. The view of Reno and the mountains is top notch. Would totally stay there again.

What an adorable vintage ski cabin. A step back to the 60’s will make you think of simpler times. The vintage stove was my favorite. There’s plenty of room if you have friends or family traveling with you. The beds are comfortable.
