Once you've covered all the terrific sights in Argentina, there's loads more to discover in the surrounding area. Collect the keys to a rental car, toss your bags in the trunk and get on the road. We've pulled together some road trips we're confident you'll love:

• Head to Salamanca for a fantastic sightseeing experience. Roughly 110 miles from Argentina, it has loads of cool sights such as New Cathedral of Salamanca.
• Your next stop? Consider Badajoz, which is around 50 miles away. Badajoz Fortress is one local draw card you really shouldn't miss.
• La Barrosa Beach is 220 miles from Argentina and is one of the region's most spectacular nature spots. Go for a walk around and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Spain, then it's likely you'll need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence in order to rent a car. You should also be aware that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll be asked to show your driver's license from your home country your passport and other forms of ID as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some other things to note for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You must be at least 25 in many countries to rent a car. If you're younger, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Make sure you read the fine print before you drive away. Typically, you can't cross country borders, drive onto ferries or off road with a rental vehicle.
