There's heaps to do in Olimpico, but venture farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Grab a set of wheels and you can meander around the surrounding area at your leisure. Add these fantastic drives to your to-do list:

• Make tracks to Salto for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure. Around 110 miles from Olimpico, it's home to numerous great attractions such as Salto Grande Dam.
• Next stop? It has to be Rivera, which is around 65 miles away. Valle del Lunarejo is one local highlight you really shouldn't miss.
• Get out into nature and take in the serenity at Almirón Hot Springs. You'll find it about 140 miles from Olimpico.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Uruguay, then you'll likely need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be able to rent a car. Also consider that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll be asked to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card you used to book the rental vehicle matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some added requirements to rent a car internationally are:
