Car Rental Playa Tortuga

After you've been to all of the well-known sights in Playa Tortuga, there's more to explore in the surrounding area. Collect the keys to a rental car, toss your luggage in the trunk and get on the road. We've pulled together some road trips we're confident you'll enjoy:

• Head off to San José for an excellent sightseeing experience. Approximately 65 miles from Playa Tortuga, it's home to many cool sights like National Museum of Costa Rica.
• About 100 miles away, Puntarenas is also a hit with travelers. Make time to get to Puntarenas Pier while you're in town. It's one of the reasons people love coming to this colorful city.
• Get out into the outdoors and appreciate the serenity at Flamingo Beach. You'll find it around 170 miles from Playa Tortuga.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Costa Rica, then you'll likely need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if an IDP is required, it has no validity on its own. You'll have to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some other requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be at least 25 in most countries to rent a car. If you're younger, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Make sure you read the rules and regulations before getting behind the wheel. Usually, you can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or off road with a rental vehicle.
