There's loads to do in Songshan, but venture farther afield and you'll find more sightseeing magic. Arrange a set of wheels and you can meander around the surrounding region at your own pace. Add these awesome places to your travel schedule:

• Hsinchu is around 45 miles from Songshan. Well-known sights like Hsinchu City God Temple deserve to be at the top of your list here.
• Your next pit stop? Make it Taichung, which is around 75 miles away. Taichung Park is one local hot spot you won't want to miss.
• Love River is approximately 190 miles from Songshan and is one of the region's most beautiful nature spots. Go for a walk around and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Taiwan, then it's likely you'll need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be able to rent a car.
